I'm just wondering if anybody has heard how he is doing.

Talondale

I found an article that gave a little bit of info:   Here

Hadn't heard about this until your post.  Hope he recovers quickly and fully.

EDIT: Found this on   Sportfishermen.com forum  (hope it's ok to include link)

QuoteAs of this afternoon, Tred wants you all to know that he had never worked harder at anything in his life. He undergoes physiotherapy all-day, everyday. At the end of his first week in rehab, he has no improvement in the sensation in his lower boady, though neither has he lost any ground. He especially works on upper-body strength and has quickly earned the respect of his doctors and therapists for working more intensely than anyone they've ever met. IF he never gets the use of his legs back again, it will certainly NOT be for lack of effort.
Tred is getting better at maneuvering his wheelchair and practices shooting his bow and casting light tackle everyday. He has physical glitches to deal with like undiagnosed pain and difficulty regulating body temperature. But overall, he is optimistic and grateful that he is as good as he is -- especially after seeing so many others in his rehab center so much worse off than he is.
So keep the thoughts and prayers coming. Tred has a very long, arduous and frustrating journey ahead of him. He needs every bit of support you can share. Thanks. Dean Travis Clarke

Talondale, thank you for the update.
The spirit of the chase will not leave him. I believe Tred truly loves being in the field and on the water.
My best wishes go out to this fellow hunter and fisher.

Doc Nock

Nerve damange through a stroke like that can take a long time to heal.  Prayers for continued determination, God's intervention and Tred and his family to be covered in God's grace, love and healing.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Hello all.
I'm a Trad Guy because of Tred Barta.
Name's Klay Shorthouse, and I was Tred's Director of Photography and Field Producer for the first 35 episodes. (That was me with the camera right behind Tred on those wild hunts.)
Anyway, I flew out to Denver to visit him a couple weeks ago. He was slowly getting used to his condition, but while there, some new concerns arose. They found cancer, a rare form called Wladron Stroms (sp?) that affects the blood - which likely caused the stroke.
That was a setback. Its a challenge at best and the first round of chemo did not take. With this being such a rare cancer its a process to come up with the right treatment.
Continue to pray, it means the world to him that people care.
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention
of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved
body, but rather to skid in broadside,  thoroughly
used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --
WOW-- What a Ride!"

Copied this from the 3Rivers news site:

Bowhunting Icon, Tred Barta, Battles Cancer

06.24.2009
Bowhunter and television personality, Tred Barta, has been diagnosed with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, a rare but very treatable form of lymphoma. Doctors believe this may also be the cause of his recent paralysis. The staff and management of 3Rivers Archery offer our thoughts and prayers for Tred and his family during this very trying time.

Those who wish to donate money to help with Mr. Barta's medical and new living equipment needs may make donations in Tred's name to The Vail Valley Charitable Fund, which is a 501(c)3 charity. Your donation is tax deductable.

The donation information is on the 3Rivers news pages.

Years ago I watched this crazy guy tackle a BIG hog with a big knife. Get well soon Tred!!
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

May Thors Hammer ring in your favor!
