Had my Surgery on june 25th, came home on the 27th, Haven't done much of anything yet The pain is down & it feels like the Surgery may have helped with the new pain. I go back to see the Doc tomarrow morning, with any luck they will pull the stitches & give me the Go ahead to start trying to do a little more. I will post tomarrow when I know more.

Word of encouragment idf I may. . .college athlete here, wilderness hunting, same size at age 46 as I was at 25 (in other words- pretty good), 25 years of back problems, two surgeries:  your back will never again be 100%-about the time you think it is, you'll be macho and hurt it again.  Give yourself lots of time to heal and realize that complete healing of this trauma could easily be one year (you may feel good, but it takes that amount of time for the full heal).  Finally, time to modify your lifestyle if possible-get help lifting over 30#. Yup, athlete and weight lifter here- no more than 30 the rest of your days!

Wish I had listened to this type of advice after the first injury, then again after the first surgery.  I always thought I could return to "normal."  NOT

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

That's great Jeff, I suffered for years and tried about every therapy available, I finally really did it up about four years ago and had surgery. I hope you get the results I did, it literally was like getting a new life and while I take care of myself I've had no issues with it since I walked out of the hospital, follow the instructions and give it time to heal up. good luck Denny

Competitive skiing has left me with four herniated disks...one with a bad tear.  Docs won't do surgery till I loose bladder control and my legs begin to drag.  I discovered the cortisone injections last year and they have been a huge help.  I understand the pain you are going through and will keep you in prayer.

Good luck Jeff. I had back surgery on the 21st and was home the same day and walking. No stitches for me,steri-strips and a bandage. My surgery wasn't any where near what you had done.Doc just took out a floater and found a kinked nerve.

Seen the Doc yesterday. They pulled the stitches & told me I could drive again. Told me other than walking I was to do NOTHING! No, bending, twisting,Shooting bows,or Anything that weighted more than a dinner plate! I told him he was Killing me, but he just said that he is tired of cutting on me, so he was doing everything possible to see to it that I don't have to see him in the operating room again.
Smart ass Doc!! So I will be doing Nothing till August 15th or so.
