Somewhere while searching the net I thought I read that Bear puts a metal rod thru the risers to make them more rigid.  Is this true of the old or new models?  Got my first one the other day (new model) and find it does have a lot of mass.

jeff w

I do not believe the wooden risers have a metal rod in them, old or new.  From what I recall, I think the metal latch mechanisms have a thin metal flange that is imbedded in the riser to strengthen the wood/metal contact area holding the latch mechanism on.   As far as mass, do you have a bubinga or maple riser?

NIGEL01

Horney Toad

I've never heard of them having a metal rod.

jeff w

From other bows I have owned the epoxy-impregnated maple ones were always  heavier than the bow risers made of wood that was not impregnated.  I have the all-bubinga riser and it is lighter than any bow made of maple that I have owned.   I expect the two-tone to be a little heavier that the all bubinga riser. I plan on getting a two-tone riser, I think they look fantastic.

The only bow that I know of that has a metal rod in it is the Jack Howard Gamemaster "CLASSIC".  The riser is partially made of molded plastic.  The rod is set in before the plastic is poured.

Jack contended that a rigid riser has les flex and will shoot faster.

There may be other bows that have this but it is the only one I know of.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

You need to post some photos of your new two tone.   Hold me over till mine arrives.

The original patent had a rod in it. Here is a couple links that show  and explain the patent.

I was holding back the last couple of years hoping they'd do a two tone.  I'm glad I waited.  It's prettier in person shoots great too.

The patent links are interesting!
Thanks Monte
The new riser is very good looking and your right. Worth the Wait. Appreciate the pics!

That's a great looking bow!  I really like the blond part that didn't take the stain well on the top of the riser.  Can't wait to get mine in.

Does anyone know, I just got a set of Grayling limbs for my knew riser.  Top goes fits good, but can't get the bottom limb to seat.  Took out the aligning screw and that didn't help.  Any suggestions.

jeff w

I had the same problem, thinking it was an alignment problem between the alignment pin(screw) on the riser and the alignment hole in the limb.

What I found on mine was the small screw that holds the spring-loaded  latch in place on the riser was not screwed in far enough.  I backed the screw out all the way, lubed it with wax, and screwed it back in just enough that the limb would now seat.   Hope this works for yours, keep us posted.

Nice looking riser Nigel. Happy Bear came back with the 2-tone riser.

NIGEL01

Jeff, I tried your suggestion.  I actually completly removed both screws and the limb still wouldn't seat.  So I ended up sprinkling talcom powder in the pocket to see where the limb was contacting.  Little by little I rasped the contact points till I got a perfect fit.  Really didn't take alot of wood removal to get it to fit.  So now I have a set of #40's and a set of #50's.  Anyone got pictures of their takedown carrying cases, I'm looking for ideas.

gaitero

Yeah, e really nice looking 2-tone riser.I was in love with my all Bubinga but I really like yours!

Kelly

Just received one of the two tone A risers and they are very nice-mine doesn't have any blond streaks in it which is ok by me.
