My brother-in-law recently gave me his Bear Polar longbow which he purchased new in 1953 (to the best of his recall) The bow is in very nice condition, limbs are straight with only a few handling marks as far as I can see. The bow looks to have an osage handle with darker wood in the riser. The limbs are red glass. Serial # JH 109 64" 45# L. He also gave me 4 hunting arrows in their original Robin Hood box. Here are the issues: I am not interested in vintage Bear longbows so I have no idea what its value is. I am a right handled shooter, this is as lefty.  mruggiero48@yahoo.com Thanks

You cannot sell or trade anything on pow wow, read the rules, you need to move this to the classifieds.

OK Danny! Struck my last comment. My intention was to get information on the bow if or when I offered it for sale. I just don't know enough about these bows to post it for sale. Thanks

Flatshooter

Kurtbel5, Thanks but I'd better take this to the classifieds when I'm ready to do something.

As far as getting info and history of this bow try going to the history and collector forum here on the site. A bunch of Bear "NUTS" over there who can help you know more about the bow you were lucky enough to get! Good Luck!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

The Bear Razorhead  is a 1956 model- first year introduced.

Thanks to the administrators for the help and to you guys too. Please keep it coming.

You have a Polar made in 1959. If you shoot it you won't want to get rid of it. They are a very underrated bow.

Jack Shanks

You might want to inquire about those other 3 broadheads too.

Raghorn would be able to fill you in on those.

Those other 3 broadheads appear to be Hilbre heads. They are no longer made.
Relax,

You'll live longer!
