I am hoping someone here can help with this bow.
I am pretty sure it is an old Ben Pearson...I am guessing a 1944 target with recurred ends.  I am not sure what the backing is and I am not sure what kind of wood it is???

Any thoughts...

Blackhawk

Wood appears to be yew.  Yep, neat old bow.

Little work , that could be cleaned up nice and make a neat looking wall hanger! Good Find..

Looks like a private custom to me and I think it could be made to shoot. Jim

Sal

Based on the wood on the handle it looks like an old osage bow.

I agree with Sal,looks like osage.Similar to a Pearson but not sure on those tips, they look a little fancier than the old Pearson's I've seen but I haven't seen many.

d. ward

oh yeah she's looking like a 1946-1947 Ben Pearson Osage static tip today's trivia will be ... how could you ever find out for sure ? the best way is to remove the leather grip.If it is a Pearson it will be marked Ben Pearson under the tennis racket style grip.....bd

Thanks for the thoughts guys...part of what made me think Pearson is the strike plate, here is a picture of it.
question bowdoc...can I get the grip loose without ruining the bows historical value?

Pack animal

Jim; it would be fun to string it up and shoot it,but...60+yrs unknown use and storage...I think I agree with Larry...it's probably going to wind up a wall hanger, and conversation piece

mullet

Osage just gets better with age and it's backed. I'd shoot it if it was mine.
