Friends,

I looked at a co-workers Grizzly today 56" 50#, it's serial number started with a 9. Am I correct in assuming it is a 1969 Grizzly? It had green glass, zebra wood? white tips, green decals and a silver flush mount medalion.

Thanks Sean

Sean,
Yes, that would be a 1969 Grizzly. It is most likely really figured Shedua or Tigerwood (Bear used some beautiful Tigerwood in '69). I believe the '69 catalog lists Shedua as the wood used in the Grizzlys for that year.

I have one, Ser. 10CG85, brown glass, 45#, 58". It also has a silver coin, flush with what I thought was Zebra wood. It has brown and white tips.Anybody know the year?

Thanks Nick,

I will pass this info on to my friend.

Sounds like a 1964 Grizzly.

Your quite welcome. Nick

I agree with Nick's assessment on both these bows.  1969 and 1964.

Thanks, Nick. Is the '64, zebra wood? Because it sure is pretty. The performance of this Grizzly really suprised me. It seems like it is as fast as some of my 55# Kodiaks

Yes, the '64 and '65 Grizzlys were Zebrawood. I agree they are great performers and the grips are usually really nice as well.

mullet,

The 64 and 65 Grizzlies would look like these.
