Found this left hand 1964 Kodiak last week Im not a lefty but the price was right. Bow is in great shape with a ding here and there , and no limb twist and a good finish.Guess I need to go shoot a few left hand rounds and see how I can do. Anyway whats the word on a 64 I have never had one,,,,,,Sam,,,,,,,,,

I've got a few of those and think they're really nice shooting bows.  Nice grip and has a nice balanced feel to it.  Very stable and fast.

Sam that is an exact twin to the one I have. I have 9 different Kodiak's from a '59 thru '69 and I like my '64 the best.

I found a '65 on the blanket at Denton. Looked nice at first glance, then I saw the price tag. $75!

       

On the upper limb, belly side, right at the fadeout on the edge of the limb, someone had sanded into the glass too far. I sanded the finish off of it, then gave it several thin superglue baths. After thoroughly drying, I tentativly strung it. No bad sounds. Drew it part way back then let down, nothing, drew all the way back, nothing.

So far so good. I nocked an arrow and let fly. Almost no sound at the shot and the arrow was instantly where I was looking. This bow is only 44# and shoots way better than most of my other bows.

I let my bowyer buddy, Roman shoot it and he was very impressed. I am going to give it Bowdoc's grip and shelf treatment as the grip is a little big for me, but wow, what a shooter. I just hope the limb holds up for me.

Beautiful bow Sam!  I do like what was done to the shelf on bowdocs but the wood in Sams is amazing.

Kenny, when do I get to try yours?  I will sign a waiver on your bow and my shoulder

Wow that bow has some character in the wood!  Lefty bows are hard to value, they tend to go crazy expensive or crazy cheap.  If it was right handed I'd say you'd be pushing the $400 line.  Ask Bowdoc what he got for that one he sold a month or so ago.....I about fell out of my chair!

Sam I think we can answer now also and if not we'll be known as dead meat when Rob and Terry get done with us.But I would say right now they are going somewhere in the 250.00-400.00 range maybe a bit higher pending on weight and condition.I had to come back and look at your new find once more just for the sheer beauty of it bd

Plans changed and I am going to be doing some moose hunting and I am gonna use my 64 Kodiak because it is the most consistent shooter for me that I own.

I would sure like a nice lefty to go with my right hander and that is about as nice a grain as you are ever gonna see in a 64 riser. They tend to be plain. Bubinga with nice grain is an awesome wood and still strong and dense.

I try to rotate my bows, but my 50# 64 Kodiak has always been one of the closest to my heart. One of the finest shooters Fred ever made.

I have shot that bow quite a bit now and I would say that of all the bows that I own it is probably my most consistent shooter.

Last time that I was shooting it a friend shot a nice tight 3 arrow group with her compound at 20 yards. I asked her what her arrows were worth because I felt pretty confident that I could break one of them with the Kodiak the way I was shooting right then.

I love shooting a recurve or longbow next to people with tricked up compounds, especially when I can shoot right along with them.
