I have a dinged up 1971 Grizzly.  It doesn't have the original coin so I won't post pics.  For Grizzly's 1971 has the Bear Grizzly silkscreen on the back.  1972 has it on the belly.  I hear that was the most reliable way to tell the difference.

I am not a huge fan of the way the 1971 Grizzly looks, but I have to admit I like the way it shoots.  Smooth quick bow out to my 29".

I look forward to seeing these pics.  Hope we get some of the target models posted.  I think the Minuteman may have been around too???

Here is a '71 Grizzly, a couple before I cleaned it up, a couple after I cleaned it up, and one of me using it.

Nice bow Portugeejn!   Yours has nicer wood than mine.  I bet it's a fine shooting bow.

Anyone have an old 1971 catalog to list out the models?

I have had a number of 71' Bears in the last year or so. I have pictures of a few of those on file that I may or may not own now. Here are two 71 Super Kodiaks both right and left handed. The right hand version had been refinished at some point but needed a do-over. I never got around to that and sold it a week ago. I still have the lefty.

I have had two or three 71 Kodiak Hunters. The 70-72 Hunters are much the same and great shooters.

The 70-72 Kodiak Magnums were all very similar also. The 70 and 71 the Kodiak Magnum silkscreen will be on the back the 72 the belly.

In 1971 the Stabilizer bushing became standard. They could be special ordered prior to that though.

Jack, do you know if the 1972 K Hunter had the same treatment with the silkscreens (moved from back to belly)?  Your 1971 KH has no bushing, do you know if the 1972 did?

Thank you for the great pics and information.

Colin,

The same holds true for the Kodiak Hunters between 71 and 72. Silkscreen on back 71 on belly 72. There is a stabilizer bushing on the 71 Kodiak Hunter I posted. I have a 1970 Kodiak Hunter in left hand right now that does not.

Sorry, I missed that.  I glanced at the first pic and didn't see it.

Thanks again for the information!
