Recently picked this up in trade from a fellow  Tradganger. I believe what I have her is a 1960 due to the Silver Coin. Over all the bow is nice and I'm very pleased. My question is should I regrip it with new leather trying to duplicate the original or leave it as it is? It's not that bad Butttt.........

It's a '59 unless it's got a fat grip.

I seen Brass as well as Silver in '59's.

Grip doesn't look that bad and I prefer original.

Use a quality leather conditioner and keep it original is what I would do.

Pretty sure that's a '59 too. If the tips are Micarta-59. Phenolic-60.
Personally the original grip is preferable IMO..............very nice bow.

Appreciate all opinions! The gentleman I picked this up from ID'd it as a 59 but the coin threw me off. I'm one of those guy's with a little info can be dangerous so try to be candid at best. Thanks for pegging it.

Toss a coin.

Heads - copper, Tails - silver.

Mint collector's grade grip has already gone to see Elvis. Unless you are nostalgic for the last 5 owner's sweatstains and scrapes, go ahead and re-grip it. You can always add your own sweat and scratches if you miss the Fender "relic" guitar look.

SlowBowke

Double dark areas (chevrons?) on lower riser, points at 1959 too (most times at least?).

Lots of em inbetween the years varying I assume though.

1959 – Pea Green Glass Back, Carmel Glass Belly, 2 Dark Chevrons in Riser Below Thin Leather Grip
1960 – Pea Green Glass Back, Carmel Glass Belly, 1 Dark Chevron in Riser Below Fat Leather Grip

Great link Steve, Thanks. I know there is some way to research in the archives but haven't figured it out yet. It's probably right in front of me just need to look. Still weighing out the regrip.

Keep it as original as possible....grip is not that bad

That's a nice bow!  If it were mine I would leave the grip also.
