I recently purchased this bow with thoughts of selling it. I'm a die-hard fan of kodiak's and would never have considered shooting a Kodiak hunter. Well that was until I took this beauty for a test ride. Now I'm pretty sure she will be with me in CO this Sept.

nice 71 you have.I have 7 of them.my favorite ones are the 67 1/2 and my 2 69's great shooters.

I may have to get my hands on a 69. That's my birth year

 The '69 Hunters are great bows. They can be found with some great Tigerwood and with Black Glass Overlays which look really sharp! The grips on the 69's will probably be higher wristed than your Hunter though.

Old school I actually like the grip on this bow. The weight is right up my ally. I draw just shy of 28 an there is absolutely no stack and she is smooth straight thru.

Good hit there Chuck those KH's are great bows super good shooters and the Kodiak Hunters were and or are one of the most bomb proof recurve bows ever built.You rarely if ever see a broken KH.They are just really well built pretty good looking bows that shoot great and have passed the test of time for sure bd

Pretty bow.  A Kodiak Hunter is next on my list to add to my collection. They are very nice bows.

A 1970 is my beater, hunting recurve. I have taken more pictures of that bow in the woods than any of my others.

I've got a '73 I bought for $60 from a fellow who was disgusted with it.  He did not care for the grip.  I wasn't immediately taken with the green Futurewood; but it shot where I looked and is smooth and quiet.  I knew as soon as I felt the grip we'd get along . . . and we still do.  It just fills my hand nicely.

Yours has it all over mine for looks, though.    

Looks ain't everything. I had mine out in the yard for an hour last night. I'm a little sore this morning. I just couldn't put it down

I shot my first Kodiak Hunter today.  It looked just like the one above but at 40X#'s.

That bow is fabulous.  Let's just say my eyes have been opened to the world of Kodiak Hunters.

Pretty bow!  You have to like the old ones.

Its become my go to bow. I'm shooting 2117s cut to 29.5" with 145 gr tip. I've shot this bow out to 50 yds with various broadheads and all fly true. Arrows weights in at 555 gr. I don't know how fast it shoots but it stacks arrows when I'm on. Hope it can hold up to the rigors of a 7 day bivy hunt in CO.

There's no reason that bow won't hold up for you.  I've been using the old ones on western hunts for years, and never had any of them fail.  As bowdoc says, that KH is a tough bow.  It'll do the job. Good luck!

The Kodiak Hunter, is the forgotten Kodiak.
It suffered from it's name in my opinion.
Most collectors went for the SUPER KODIAK.
Your bow is a great bow and like Donnie said.....bombproof! They were very well made and under rated.

They are now being chased by many collectors and Bear made so many beautiful versions ranging from exotic woods to colorful futurewood.
