Struck up the usual deer hunting conversation with a guy I met today. Strictly a compound shooter. When I told him I shoot and collect old Bears he told me he has a old Bear he wants to sell and says he sure aint gonna shoot it. I silently giggled. He says well get together later in the week. Now my imagination starts to go into overdrive thinking it might be a real nice Kodiak or Super Kodiak. Well I will keep you posted.

I hope it is something great!

SlowBowke

If it has clear glass on the limbs Ill give you 10 bucks more than you pay for it.

Honest!

Good luck!

I hope it's an old Kodiak.  Most of those conversations for me wind up with Kodiak Hunter greenies which aren't my cup of tea.

Nothing wrong with Grizzlies. They just aren't Kodiaks.

Kodiak hunter, grizzly, or mag. Is what I see most. Either way you probably wont get hurt on the deal. cant wait to see! John

My first traditional kill was with a 50lb 1970's Grizzly. It was a nice 6pt and I used cedar shafts that I flethched up and painted myself. An awesome day. Unfortunately the bow has a horizontal crack in the lower limb but it still looks good hanging on the wall
There's more to hunting than taking a trophy.......Enjoy everything the woods have to offer

Well the fella told me to check back next week. He's going to the farm to get it.

Well finally the man called and we met up the old Bear turned into a Ben Pearson Cougar 7050 45lb and 60amo. I tried to buy the bow but to my suprise the man said he wanted to give me the bow!. Well I would say that worked out to be a pretty nice find. What do you think fellas?

Horney Toad

Nothing wrong with a freebee. A friend gave me a Super mag once, he said "No one shoots those anymore".

Nice Guy! And one to your benefit. Guy's like that it's always fun to pay back in the long run. Make good friends that way.

Exactly - I have been studying how I am gonna repay this favor!

If he owns a farm, tell him that you will gladly thin the deer herd out that eats his crops as a payment.

What about a subscription to Traditional Bowhunter? One or two issues, and his training wheels will start to get heavy.

I placed an add in a local free paper looking for recurve bows.I get a call from a guy and go look at two bows. When I inquired about the price the guy says "If you can use them, you can have them"    a '59 Kodiak Special and a '62 Cub

Well worth the 5 mile drive
