Does anyone remember or have insight as to a bow that was made by a gentleman by the name of Allen Key's or Jerome Key's.  I believe there were made in Virginia.  I have one and was just wondering if anyone knew anything about them?

As you can see, he loved big bulky risers.  I was wondering just how much I could cut down on the riser to make it more user friendly without harming the integrity of the bow?

As long as you don't cut the throat of the grip down you will be OK, that is the weakest part of the bow there. Trace what you want to do with a pencil first to get an idea before you take the file to bow. You can take a bunch of wood off that riser.

What are the specs on the bow? If it's long limbed (68") and low #'s (30s) it's a target bow and a heavy riser could be to your advantage. That bow could clean up and be very good looking with all that massive wood riser. Just my thoughts!!

It's like carving a decoy. Somewhere in that block of wood there is a real handsome bow.

The bow is actually 64" and pulls 45@ 28.  That is my perfect poundage and hate to see the bow just sitting so I think there is going to be some saw work and file marks on it soon....  :help:

64" and 45# You bet, I'd take a rasp to that. Would like to see some pics as you work along. Plenty there to work with.. Should be interesting!!
