I have a bow that I would like to identify the maker and the year made if possible.

It has 3 sets of numbers stamped into the wood.

J97- I assume this is the model number

62- is the bow length

43- is the marked bow weight( my scales read 44@28)

The back of the bow is green fiber glass that looks like it made of burlap inside.

The belly side of the limbs is a reddish brown glass.

I can't come close to guessing the wood.

I have some pictures to post.

I'm also hoping to see for myself if the tips are working. If you have an opinion about them let me know.

I think the riser is walnut.  It looks like a Ben Pearson but an old one with woven glass, maybe early 60's.  Just a guess.

Sorry, I have no clue, but by the looks of it I think I would enjoy shooting it.

Someone with more knowledge than I will come along on this thread I hope.

Might be an old Shakespear, Wonderbow. I have seen several that use that woven, reddish glass. I have a little 30 pounder that my Nieces shoot when they come over.

Lots of the bows were purchased by schools for archery classes in the 30s and 40s. It was what a lot of gals took for PE (according to my Mother-in-law).

Nice looking little bow.

It's a Steiner Model J97 Dervish 62" 44@28.

The information that I have on these bows is late 50's to early 60's they were made in Huntington West Virginia I have an old magazine ad for these and the only 2 models advertised are "The Fury" and the "Lady Iris" there were only a few archery companies in WV, through the years,I collect bows made in WV and would be very interested in this one if you're not too attached to it.

Looks a lot like a Shakespere Wonderbow to me too.
