I was at the archery shop Friday and came across what I beleive is a 1969 Bear Cub for $30 on consignment.  The first digit in the serial number is 9 and it's 60 inches long/ 25#.  Red glass and looks like maple with dual shelf. Looks very similiar to my 57 or 58 Polar though.  My son is loving it and can really shoot this thing!
Trying to confirm it's a 1969 or could it be a 1959 since it has no coin?  Also like to find out the correct brace height?

I have one that sounds just like it.  I am guessing 1969, but I will be curious what the experts say here.  Mine is a dual shelf with small plastic pegs for shelves.  Maple riser, red glass on both sides.  Serial # starts with a 9, no coin, 25#.  It's a fun bow.

That sounds exactly the same as my sons.  We added a bear stick on strike plate and some camo spider legs so he thinks he's hit the bigtime now!  I was pretty sure it's a 69, but without the coin and comparing how close it looks to my 57 or 58 polar bear, it kind of makes me wonder if it could be a 59.  What is your's braced at?

I'll check later tonight, but I think those are the 1961-62 Cubs.  They came in a variety of glass colors and did not have a coin.

The 1962 Cub was a semi recurve, leather wrapped handle, silver coin with black paint inlay. The Cub was made from 1952 to 1957, then brought back in 1962. Get a picture up. There are people at this site that can peg it.

I was thinking of the Panda, not the Cub!  I wasn't around last night much to dig out the catalogs and confirm.

They have it listed as a 1953, but I think they just picked that date off the patent.

Could be 1969 or 1970 if its the one I looked at. Not many people collect the Cub's. I have some from the 50's and they can be fun to shoot. Most often a very inexpensive bow.

Mine is no shelf with the pin through the handle.  I will try to get a pic up in the next 24 hours.
