Kodiak Hunter came on the seen around 1967 1/2 and is most likly the best strongest and bullet proofest bow Bear or any manufacture ever built they are rock solid shooters and if taken care of should last another oh say 42 1/2 years. The riser wood is most likly Shedua bd

Thanks for the info bd...I have been considering picking one up, but I have never shot one.  They just appear to be made to get the job done. The riser appears well balanced yet manageable as a hunting bow and the length also a near perfect compromise on length and foregiveness.

You've convinced me I should try one.  Any recommendation on select years?

Colin,

You should of asked when you were here last. I'm not really collecting them but I have five 67s, a 68, 69 and a 71-72 at the moment. Sold all the other ones I had.

Here is just a tidpit of info. The 1967 model is the only year produced at 58" Starting in 1968 they went back to 60" and lowered the high grip a bit. Seems another well known manafacture of a 58" Hunter took offense and had a serious talk with Fred, he then changed back to a 60" bow

Thanks y'all I love my friends K-hunter it's a 45x# Greenie "72" and I am just interested how the two compare mine being a all wood. As soon as I figure out how to post pics! Its really cool compared to the Greenies. If I stack arrows with mine like I do his I feel for a big fat Doe this year! I have a 50# "68"

Chris,

The Greenies were first produced in 73'. I just acquired a 68' a few days ago but haven't shot it yet. I've had a few 73-77 versions that I felt were good shooters also.

I've been shooting a 67' the last couple evenings and although it is a nice shooting bow the grip is higher like Oldskool mentions. It did take a little getting used to at least for me.

Happy with my purchase the grip on this 68 feels a little different yes but I like it! good hunting and thanks for the info.

I've got a blue stripe 47# that is top of my rack! Its my go-to. I like the grip on my 67 1/2 super K better but the blue stripe always shoots better for me.
