Anyone have any info on these bows. I am looking at one right now.

It seems like they were a cheaper model bear bow but I havnt found any review with any meat. The guy thinks it is about 19 years old. He was able to give me the specs but not a number.

45 at 28 bow is 56" long.  I was looking at it as a bowfishing rig.

Any thoughts?

I have had a couple of the older models from the sixties that are 60". They did produce a Black Bear magnum in 78 and 79 that was 54". I have never seen a 56" model but they did make a 58" in 77.

Thanks Jack. I am confident this seller doesn't know anything about bows. He said it was his dad's and his dad gave it to him. It sounds like it has spent the rest of the time in his closet.

My largest problem is with him not really knowing anything about the bow and being an hour away, I wanted to see what I could find on these things first.

I have a Bear Black Bear 60" 45# that has a serial# that starts with KL. I think it's from "74", dont think they made a 56" Black Bear.

It was my first recurve and it shoots as good as the "64" Grizz I hunt with now.

The tips are a bit blocky and the bows are plain with no overlays on the tips or riser. The grip is narrow and long and fits my hand nice. I have not seen any Black Bears with real fancy wood, most have Maple or Seduha risers which is what I think mine is.

They seem to go for around 100.00 when they show up on a "auction site".

Thank you for all the input.  From his pictures the riser looks to be maple.  He didnt take any pics of the tips.

Perhaps when I get home I will be able to see the pics you have shown. My computer at work is to slow and cannot load them.
