I am the orginal owner of a 72-73 Super K. I got the bow around Janurary 1973. I did a stupid thing about 1978, I had a hole drilled for a plunger. I want to fill it back in with a plug cut from face grain wood. Can someone tell me what the woods were or where I can find out?
Thank You, Tom M.

Hi Tom those were all built of stained hard rock maple.bd

Wasn't those maple risers impregnated with some form of an epoxy (making Futurewood)?   seems like I remember seeing that in the Bear video 'Rural Route 1'.

Right- Hardrock maple impregnated with epoxy and even a bit of formaldehyde = Futurewood. Or Dymondwood, or Ramwood, etc.   GY

Thank you all for the responses. I have been trying off and on for a number of years to fix my mistake. It will never look perfect but better than an end grain dowel.

5/8" plug cutter and a piece of scrap maple should work out just fine.Keep me posted if you don't find any good maple as I have a pretty good piece I made several plugs from and would be more then happy to send you a couple plugs. You can stain the plug with black india ink.bd
