My search for 50's Polars in the 50-55# range is becoming comical.  The last three guys to contact me about buying their bows have all decided to keep them.  With the the last shooting session they had a change of heart!  

So.... I'll ask it here.

Does anyone have a 50's Polar in decent shape and 50-55# that they'd, and here's the key, be willing to part with?     I have some 50's Kodiaks and KSpecials for trade, other trade goods and cash.

I have some good examples of the Polars, but these will be hunted with and I'd like a backups of a few years.  I still don't have a '58!

Yeah I know, I fooled into looking at this thread.  You were expecting to see something pretty, unique or just downright cool.

Jeremy, In the classifieds "skillet" has a bow for sale that is listed as an Alaskan but looks an awful lot like a Polar. I can vouch for him as a fantastic guy to deal with. Top notch all the way.

Yup, that's a '55 Polar that'll be close to 66# at my long draw.  I normally keep 'em just a 60# or a little below.

Hi Jeremy,It's me again .I didnt know you were looking for anything at the time we last talked.I do have a 58 polar that is a little bit light for what you had listed .40@26" ,I dont know what that would be at your draw?But I would be willing to trade it for a Alaskan In that same style? I have I believe a 1953 polar that is 61#.

Here's one and it's available – 1957 or 1958 Bear Polar, right hand, 64 inches and 48#. Serial number MY550. As the 1958 Bear Archery catalog says, "Streamlined beauty with exceptional shooting qualities." This is a semi-recurved bow.

Sorry guys, wasn't around the computer much this weekend.  I'll respond to PMs and such in a bit...

I have a few more Polars on the way and may be close to unraveling the mystery of the ID'ing '57 and '58 Polar.  I think I have the differences figured out, but need to see one or two more examples to confirm and see if Bear made the change in the limbs mid '57 or in '58.

What still eludes me is getting my hand on a rounded site window '58 Polar.  I've seen pictures of only one, but that would really close the case.  Also a '57 or '58 that has the riser trimmed like the Kodiaks.  Again, I've seen pictures of only one - custom order?  Almost as cool looking as Wade's red glass Kodiak.
