G'day Gents,

I've taken a bit of a fancy toward '59 Kodiaks (as have most people here, I understand) - mind, from pictures only (I've not laid eyes on one - not too many around Katherine [ie. none]).

Anyway, I have a couple of questions:

1. What is the chance of someone having a shootable one for sale that's anywhere from 60# to, well, 100#?

2. If there are no real '59ers like that for sale, what is the chance of finding a bowyer who would take an order for a replica (I've read on here about a number of bowyers who have made these, but I don't know who is currently willing to take orders or not)?

What the HECK kind of critter is that in your photo Ben? Can you post a bigger version?

I know my eyes aren't what they once were but.....???

As for the repoductions, I see em around. If I see a "big boy" Ill save the link. Know of a couple but didnt notice the poundage.

No worries. It's a feral jack donkey, and was my third bowkill, and first traditional bowkill (haven't used compounds since), with my first traditional bow, a 60# Martin Hunter. Being a novice, the brace height was far too low. We only hunt feral (introduced pest) animals in Australia with the bow - no native animals.

Ben, The heavy weight 59 kodiaks are real expensive. There are some around, probably well over $1000 for that kind of weight.
your Martin is a good choice, those Hunters always shoot good.

I'm not familiar with them.  Are they edible?  It looks like a good sized animal.  How do you hunt them, spot and stalk, blind or stand?

Yep, both spot and stalk, and brush blind ambush. This one was the result of a very tricky stalk.

Man when I first saw the nose on that thing It reminded me of one of my Sister in laws named Becky...It looked like a deer that ran smack into a Semi....Thanks for clearing that up for us ...Bet it taste like Horse don't he...In our country we use them as A.T.V.'s  " A$$ Traveling Very slow"...
