Picked this up with some other bows today. Got it from an 83 year old man Who used to own a sporting goods store in the 60'S.

Ralph couldn't remember the manufacturer. It has some metal clips that appear to of had surgical tubing on them. He said it had rubber bands on it.

Any Ideas TradGang history Wizards? Thanks in advance.

Tom, I thought of the Penobscot bows also but the extra limbs are on the belly of the bow not the back. And they will pivot to almost 90 degrees to the riser.

The man I got it from told Me of another Fellow from the area that always tried to buy it from Him I'm going to try and contact George and see what he remembers of the bow.

It is a RH Varabow. Actually a patented bow.

Heavy rubber was attached from the inner limb to the outer limb.

The string is attached to the inner limb and resistance in pulling is provided by the rubber. The back set of limbs do not bend, just the rubber.

I have one and have shot it. Not a great performer.

It is pretty much about as far off the edge as you can get and still be "classified" as traditional.

I know a self bowyer who built one of these style of bows(Penobscot) and shoots it, but Like you said it has the extra set of limbs on the back though not the belly. Very Interesting!!Henry

Wade could You give any more details?
Thanks

Wade Phillips

Mine has Varabow Pat Pending Ink Stamped in the sight window. The back set of limbs have notches to adjust the draw weight.

You can still shoot them safely. Take the bow to a scuba shop and buy some rubber for a spear gun to get it set up.

This photograph should help you understand how to set it up. You need some metal 1.25" OD. Heck some heavy bailing wire might work.

Always a conversation piece for those who have never seen one.

Wade , thanks for the info. Would You be able to post a picture of it strung?

I figured the notches were for weight adjustment just having trouble visualizing how the string attaches. Thanks again

This is the stamp in the sight window.

I have the patent for it. Will have to dig it out the get the exact date.

Man I type slow!! Thanks everyone for the help.

It came with the metal clips that the rubber attaches to Wade.

William I would like to see that pic. Thank You

Wade Phillips

bretto -

The sting is attached in the photo of the rubber. I is all set up ready to shoot. The inside limbs hing toward you when you pull the string back.

Thanks Wade, I knew someone from the "Gang" would know. What is the draw weight of Your bow?

Wade Phillips

The draw weight can be anything you want by adjusting the brackets or putting on different rubber. It is just set light now so the rubber is relaxed and does not weaken.

Hink - Cool brochure. The Varabow on the left appears to be made of a fancy wood. I have only seen the plain Jane laminated Varabow on the right.
