Glenn St. Charles Thunderbird 33# @ 28"

Bid on this little diamond in the rough last weekend 250453861040 (maybe that should be extra rough)...

Purely a recreational bid, so was both surprised and had serious reservations that I had won. That recreational bidding gets me in more trouble... Well, after paying for it, I justified the expense as another potential rescue mission.

It arrived yesterday... Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

 

The rescue began...

After cleaning the gadgetry off, it was apparent that it had potential. It has a super small grip, much narrower limbs and much lighter physical weight than my other Thunderbirds. Took her outside to shoot a few arrows, but couldn't put her down until over 50 arrows had hit their mark. What a little sweetheart!

Started on the easy side first which cleaned up pretty well except some faint tape marks...

 

Then started in on the tough side with a file, sandpaper and tru-oil. Still not finished...

Most rescue missions around here more closely resemble the aftermath left by a Kamikaze pilot. But this one may have a different outcome even though the altered RH self doesn't match the wedge shape LH shelf...

The Asymmetrical Ambidextrous Thunderbird is truly a Little Sweetheart.

Boy-o-boy did that clean up nice. What was that taped to the bottom limb...a piece of paper? Distances for the sight? Great rescue job.

The perma-card is designed for the convenience of the field archer. Just tape it to the bow on the outside of the lower limb, near the handle. Use a pencil with an eraser to score -- mark in your hits and your score and total them. When the round is over, simply erase the scoring and the card is ready for the next round -- always with you and ready to be used over again and again.

Wade she dose look like a little Sweetheart. Very nice bow man... Maybe one day I will owned one my self.... Wade where the riser's made from Yew ?...

Thanks Wade! Amazing that the card held up the way it did. Very nice bow. I guess after hanging around here long enough I am going to have to try my hand at "rescuing" a bow too. Thanks again for the push.

John - The perma - card is well designed.

The paper is heavy card stock.

On the outside of the paper is a heavy strip of clear plastic that acts as a "Chalk Board" to write on and protect the paper underneath.  

The pencil marks are easily erased from the plastic "Chalk Board".

The best thing about it for the Bear Collectors is the text in red font ...

Cody - The only Yew Riser Thunderbirds that I am aware of are the second generation models that were made by Jay St. Charles 50 years after Glenn made the first generation.

Wade,I was just looking at that page... Your thunderbird is number 202 dose that make it 202 made or how dose that whole thing work out.. becsuse didn't they start the numders at 101 ???. Makes me Puzzled..

I was bidding on that one; but worried about the condition-so I quit bidding. What a wonderful restoration! Less is more sometimes! Nice job Wade. Someday I'll get one of those.
