Hello Guys, this past weekend I made my way up to Grayling for the MTB shoot which is in Grayling... Well I had to drive by the old Bear plant to get to the shoot.. Every time I went by I just looked and said WOW.. so much history thats gone.. But before I planed to come back home I stoped and took a few photos of the plant as I didnt know the next time I will be north so I pulled in the drive way and took a few photos for me and some of you guys who may never seen the plant in the last few years...... We  this morring before I went back to the shoot.. I stoped by an old friends house Loyd Crawford who started work for bear on 1-10-64... Mr. Crawford and I spent a few mins talking about his Job at Bear plus about target archery days.. His wife aslo worked for Bear..... I just think how many people who worked for bear that are still alive man would it be cool to get them all around a campfire and talk about the good old days of archery....

So on my next trip to Grayling I am going to see who I can look up...

Here's a cool old photo of Fred standing in front of his new museum in Grayling where the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters shoot is held.It was recently torn down.Such history.So sad.

Cody, it's great to see you doing this stuff.        I'd venture to say there's a lot of us who live within driving distance of some of our "history".

I live within a couple miles of Glenn St. Charles' Northwest's Archery store and stopped by there 2-3 times per week to visit and buy "something".  A few months after Glenn sold it, a friend asked for a pic of the building and the sign.  When I arrived, it was gone...replaced with a strip mall. I then remembered I had never taken of pic of the place.   :(  

Another disappointment was my failure to ever visit Bill Stewart in Yakima.

Everyone should do it now before it's too late.

Cody,I talked to a guy in Detroit this weekend & he said he has the old sign that stood outside Grayling,He told me the sign said Welcome to the Fred Bear Museum...With an arrow pointing in the direction of the Museum. I would love to get it.He is supposed to call me sometime.

Rick - There was also a large Fred Bear Museum sign that sold on auction maybe 5 years ago or more. If I remember correctly, I was one of many loosing bidders.

I believe Pete won the auction and picked up the sign locally, which saved a bundle in shipping fees had anyone from out of state been the winner.

I can remember the billboard coming into Grayling it said WELCOME TO THE ARCHERY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.

After 2 weeks I saw him again this weekend at the flea Mkt.He is teetering back & forth on what to do with his archery collection.Cody,I will let you know if he calls me.

Rick.. if you get any thing you dont want bows arrows, heads.. let me know and if I have the cash I will buy some stuff off of you...
