Braced a tad too much?

I just thought it was a weird angle last night. But you are right!!!

If you look at the picture where the bow is flat on the deck, it looks like the brace is the same as two widths of the decking.  If it is a standard 2x6 (5 1/2 actual width) cedar decking, the brace is about 10-11".  

I wonder how much longer the string would need to be in order to lower to a more realistic 8"?
