I have my Grandpa's Kodiak.  It is 62" and the SN starts with DK can't read the numbers after that.  Any help would be great.  Thanks

Is it a Kodiak Special?62" is an odd length for a Kodiak. My guess is around 1956-58.

John - Sorry to report that 1956 Kodiak Special was NOT made or shown in the catalog in 62". John, if you have a 1956 KS 62", all factory original I will give you any 3-figure sum you want for it.

The 1956 KS was made and shown in the 1956 catalog only in 60", 64" & 68". The 1956 KS, has dark brown glass on the belly and gray glass on the back.

The 62" length in KS was not made until 1957, and was also made in 58 as you suggest. Both have tan glass on the back and belly.

Also, the serial number preface, "DK" is not even a 1956-1958 Kodiak Special normal serial number. In those years, the KS almost always began with a letter toward the end of the alphabet, "X" or "Y". "DK" is more a 1956 Kodiak serial number. I generally don't place much store in serial numbers, or any other writing on a bow, as anything can be written on any bow by anyone at anytime and all humans make mistakes.

I agree that 62" is an odd length for a Kodiak made after 1953-1/2... However, nothing would surprise me, from its actual length, to mis labeled for model, to mislabeled for length.

Charlie - What color is the glass on both sides of the bow? Are you certain the length is labeled 62" and that it says only Kodiak on the bow?
