I have been shooting for years and never considered weather it was better for me to aim with both eyes open or just my dominate eye (me being right handed and right eye dominate). So a couple days ago I shot consistently with my non-dominate eye closed and found that I am more consistent shooting that way.

Do you shoot with one eye or both eyes? Assuming to have two eyes.  :)

Both eyes open....even when I shoot both LH and RH.

Both... never close off your field of view... plus you lose depth perception with one eye closed.

One eye open may only be half right.

Close them both, then you are sure to have issues.

Note: I naturally squint my left eye out of focus when bearing down on the target.

I'm with friend on this one, my concentration is much better when I squint my left.

Perhaps that more accurately describes what I do now.

I wait until just before I release and I squint one eye to almost (for lack of a better way to describe it) to tunnel in and focus on the target.

Taught to use both, thats what I use.

I switched to both eyes open about 4 yrs ago and never went back..it took a couple days to get use to it but I like it now alot better.

Because there is such a BIG difference between the sight in my eyes, I shut my left eye. I am right handed.
I can't say that it affects my depth perception.

Both pinpointed towards an envisioned crosshair "+" on your target.

Trad is 60% mental & about 40% mental.

Since you just started shooting trad....the years you shot before were with a compound I assume...did you shoot with sites on those bows?

With no sites your depth of perception is better with both eyes open.

I am a gap shooter and as such once i have the distance determined i can close my left eye( right eye dominant, right hand shooter) and am more accurate on my left-rights and on my scoring at the 3d tourneys. I do what is right for me and leave the rest to form.

Brad Arnett

both eyes with everything that I shoot from the trad bow to the carry gun.

bansheewins

Agree with Terry.  I have hunted compound my entire life using one eye.  Went to Trad last year and now shoot both it is a totally different world and seems to work much better with my depth perception.

Keystone is correct also...I forgot, since I'm not a gap shooter....lots of folks aim different ways, so you gotta determine which way is best for you.

Both open.  (Closed left when using a peep on the compound, but had no trouble going back to both open when I switched back.  Kind of like riding a bicycle.)

One eye open, one closed with peep/sights(compound), both eyes open with trad. No trouble going back and forth. This is what works for me, I go from one bow to the other without even thinking about it. It's just there.
