Hey Ray

Smith and I drove over for the day and spent a few hours walking around and talkin'.

Didn't have much money, or I would have gotten on "the list" (again) for a Shrew classic ;o) As you know, Smith and I have a father/son set of Chameleons that at my draw are pretty much the same except his is a 54" and mine a 56"--and I kinda like his more than mine! Now, if I could have snuck off with the Classic Ron had there....but he said it was sold already. Pretty and sweet.

I did get two of those new bow quivers that Ron has...so I've decided to sell my GN and Smith's now discontinued Crittergitter kids version.

Saw lots of friends. Curtiss was there and he looks great! He's lost a lot of weight and it shows. Made some arrangements to get together and shoot with some people who I should see more often.

Good day trip. All the best to you and family.

Good show. I only stayed about 2 hours & shot only two bows: a DAS Dalaa and a Black Widow PSA. I have a Dalaa on order so was very pleased to see that I loved the grip & really loved how it shot, also enjoyed talking to Dave. I cannot wait to get mine. Geez, I really liked it.

I've read all the BW bashing & loving here & have shot tons of bows but not BW. Based on my brief acquaintance with one model: a very nice looking, handling & shooting bow. I can see why guys love 'em.

The Shrews tempted me & I almost bought one last year--darned, they feel good!!--but with a Dalaa on order I just stared at 'em and didn't shoot. Also eyed the Saluki's but none there that really fit me to test out. Really wanted to shoot a Robertson or Brack, but if they were there, I couldn't find 'em.

You can probably tell I have eclectic tastes but narrow "possession interests" these days. I did buy a target bag. The show seemed very well attended & I enjoyed talking to guys at booths & at the shooting "range".

I bought a sweet little 56" dynasty t/d recurve 58@28 with a selway quiver attached, DIRT cheap!, cause the finish is peeling off the limbs, bought a bunch of lams, glass and riser woods for making more bows, and met a lot of great people, check out my "bestest wife" thread, it was a fantastic day!..........Steve

I ordered a Bisongear backback in Filson wool from Angelo.  Nice packs.  Can wait to try it out this fall.

Also shot a DAS and a Predator.  The Das was smooth, but wasn't to my liking.  The Predator was a darn nice bow!  I was really impressed with them.  Oh, the Kota bows sure were pretty!  Low mass weight, beautiful wood.

Great show.

Please tell those of us who could not attend all about the show. Who all was there? Who'd you talk to? Did any Tradgangers meet any other Tradgangers? CK

Voodoofire1

I met C2, Anointed Archer,Mark Detmer, Ron LeClair,G.Fred, Gene and Barry Wensel, Mike Mitten, and a host of others that I can't recall at the moment, it was a great time talking archery and hunting with those fellas!

Hey Ray - we missed you. Greg N was there and I got him that Helle blade I told you about. Didn't see you called until later, I will ring you later on.

Ron's Super Shrew Classic is going to be a huge hit. NICE shooting bow. After seeing the quality of the camo laminations they had, I switched my Black Li'l Favorite to a Chameleon. Awesome.

I made my Dad sign up for MBH, as an out of stater. LOTS of MBHer's in attendance, from the President on down the line.

I only bought a turkey box call from Cherokee Slim and a new glove.

I had a great time BS'ing with guys like Ron, Gregg Coffey, Steve Turay, John Vassos, Jack Benson,Cody Roiter, Tim Cosgrove...the list goes on. I must have talked with 100 different folks.

Kustom King was SWAMPED, they looked busy as heck.

Jack,

Good to here from you. I'm glad you're doing well.

One thing I've come to expect from my buddy Ron LaClair is top notch stuff in his limited line of traditional archery offerings. His bows speak for themselves, but when I see the reviews on his longhunter shirts, quivers, Hawks and knives that he carries there's nothing but top notch reviews. I guess that's one of the things I appreciate about Ron-the man knows what's good in traditional archery and he's still researching!

Bret,

We're not that far apart (I'm in T.C.). We're going to have to get together at the Williamsburg 3-D range and shoot this year if you're up for it. You're going to love that Bison Gear pack. I've had one now for a few years made from the Gray Wolf Wool and it's outstanding. Bison Gear is top notch in the pack world in my opinion.

WESTBROOK

It was a great time, the only time you could move around was when there was a seminar and alot of the people were in there, rest of the time it was PACKED.

First thing I did was pick up my new Shrew Scout and shot it for a while. Man what a bow! The only other bow I was interested in shooting was  one of Dave Dwyer's longbows, but no lefty's.

Got a bunch of shafts from Bill at Alleghaney, and some stuff to go with them. Kustom king had a big day, most of the time it was 2 deep all around there booth.

A great day

Eric

Didn't shoot any bows this time for the first time ever. Bought a dozen Ace broadheads, a dozen of their Medival style field points, and a dozen brass field points, all in 175 and 200 grain weights. Rusty is going out of business so bought a dozen cedar shafts footed with purpleheart and point tapered. Bought a recurve bag form U-stuff-it. My wife bought an alpaca coat from a vendor that had tons of wool goods at great prices. I also bought a wool hunting shirt from Theresa Asbell. There were some new arrowmakers there, Double Bull, and other vendors. Was hoping to see some of the new limb wraps from Arrow Wraps Unlimited there but didn't find any.

Thanks Curt, we're going to terrorize the turkeys this spring!

Lots of lefty bows there Curt.  Just about every bowyer had a at least a couple of them....and there were a bunch of bowyers there including most of the big names. A real good gathering, as usual.

Guru

Dick, Just wish it were closer....

Westbrook, Good luck with the turks!! Look forward to seeing the pix of the bow and bird!!

I bought a Bison gear teton pack in Filson wool, some points, weight tubes, a cool little pocket didtal scale, & some tulipwood & bacote for a certain bowyer. I managed to not shoot a single bow in a 3 day weekend. I think I shot all the ones there (except the DAS) in the past.

Cousin Brian ordered a new Fox breed t/d & bought some kids archery stuff(Black Rhino bow) for his grandson. Shot the breeze with old friends & ate dinner with friends Greg & David Darling from MI.

All in all a great time, except for the drive home! 7 hours thru a lake effect blizzard, we almost bought the farm several times. Stupid lake, never drove thru that kind of snow, even living in WI for 45 years.

I bought a really nice longbow. I wanted to try something that was longer but found out that I'm too stubby for a 64 inch bow, LOL! Add it to the collection. I did get a chance to shoot a Shrew and talk with Gregg. Very cool guy! I really can't wait till my bow is done now after shooting one. I'm dying here!
Just one more step please!

Shifting Shadow

Did anyone shoot a Steve Abbott longbow? Just wondering if he was there.
