I am a glove shooter, and want to move to tab.  I bought a split finger tab, but now I also want to learn 3-under shooting.  I notice there are 3-under tabs.  Do I REALLY need a 3-under tab?  What issues will I face, if any, if I use a split finger tab for both split finger and 3-under shooting?  FYI - I have both an upper and lower knock, made of serving material.

EW  have at it.  The tab doesn't know where you are hooking.  The three under tab will "tie" your fingers together a little more but a split tab will work well.

I shoot three under with a split tab.  Tried a 3under tab and didn't like it, although I'm willing to try another some day.

Plus, I've been known to shoot split once in awhile still, especially on a bow that's being tillered for a split shooter.

A lot of split finger tabs have some kind of spacer between your first two fingers.  I wouldn't want that spacer if I were shooting 3 under.  Other than that, a split finger tab should work fine.

And a pair of scissors and a knife will make a split tab out of a 3 under....don't ask me how I know....lol.

Black widow makes a 3 under tab with individual fingers tabs.  I prefer the one piece tab for 3 under and focus on getting the string in the groove of my finger lined up.  My 3 under tab is an EW Bateman

I shoot 3 under and most of the time I use the split finger tabs. I have some without a split that I use sometimes too. Just pop the plastic spacer out of the split tabs for 3 under.

I will second what okie64 said.  I shot with a 3-under guy the other day and started thinking about trying it.  Noticed I was a hair more consistent and had better alignment, although the bow seemed to be a bit louder.  I took a cheap cordovan split-tab and pulled out the spacer.  It worked better for me than shooting 3-under with the spacer and my fingers felt better.  Guess you'll just have to try it yourself.  Good Luck.
Best of Luck!

I shoot three-under and always use a regular tab. My favorite is pictured below: a PSE King No Pinch Tab with a plastic finger separator. I can't think of any issues you should be concerned with using a normal tab for three-under.

I prefer the E.W. Bateman split finger tab over the 3 under tab for shooting 3 under.  Now will somebody tell me how to get my bow as quite 3 under as it was when I shot split.

I noticed the other day that my bow was louder shooting 3-under.  I was using a cordovan split tab without the spacer which was a little long over the fingers.  A little trimming quieted it down some.

I use a thin home made split tab, no spacers or layers. Although I shoot three under, I prefer a split tab. It gives me a better feel on the string.
