Hello, I have a question. When I started shooting, years back, I was tested and started shooting LH, as I appear to be left eye dominant, though I am right handed. But I started to wonder if that is really necessary. When I focus on the target, in my peripheral vision I see 2 distinct arrows, of same intensity. The eye dominance does not seem to make one stand out, at all. I've never shot right handed, but now I want to try. Any other shooter sees 2 arrows? What's the relationship to eye dominance?

Same boat as you are,but I only shoot one arrow at a time.Seriously though,Long gun-left handed,hangun-right handed but alway's to the right of the bull.Have tried both right/left hand with bows.I am more comfortable shooting right,with both eyes open.Since I am a rookie and not very good at it anyway,I really can't see any difference.Try it and see,that's pretty much what I did.I will,at this point,stay a right handed shooter.

You should see two arrows, the fact that one is in line with the arrow and the other is not is what is important.  Being right handed and left eye dominant to a degree, the right eye has become stronger.  I have the same thing, no dominant eye, and I am somewhat ambidextrous.  I shoot better fast right handed, I am right handed mostly, and I shoot better slower left handed, although I can speed up some and still shoot fine. If your head is tilted a bit the higher of the two indirect arrows you should be the one over the arrow.  The left indirect arrow when shooting right handed, while you are holding the bow in your left hand, and the right arrow when holding the bow in your right hand.  If you make a switch, start out shooting slowly with good full draw power.  you can even play around with indirect sighting, however, the longer you do it the less you will notice that you are intentionally placing your arrow and it will become more of an automatic reflex, instinctive.  To bad you are not near here, I have a number of right handed bows that I am looking to part with.  The only thing is that when I give someone a free bow I want to personally hand it to them and make sure that it is the right bow that person.

Marco, What happens if you point your index finger at something, concentrate on it and then close one eye at a time and  which eye lines up with the finger and the target?   I'm left handed and left eye dominant and  whether I'm pointing with my right of left hand my left eye is always the one lined up with it. Maybe your eyes have equal dominance I don't know if that is possible.

Bowgy, when I point at an object and focus on it, I see exactly 2 fingers. Same intensity. When I close my dominant left eye, 65% of the time I'll see it aligned, 35% It will off. I also learned, through shooting, to align the pointed device to the right-sided image (because that's the one that belongs to the left eye). I am left-eyed dominant, with the test of seeing through a small oopening, but, man, is it close...

I shoot both left and right handed, I am left eye dominant and if I shoot right handed by just concentrating on the target without arrow alignment then I normally will shoot to the left of the target. If I shoot left handed it is just concentrate on the target and not even consider the arrow and 95 % of the time its a good shot if I do everthing else right.

Not an uncommon problem.. do a google search for pencil pushups.. it is an exercise to help with the double vision.. and it would behoove you to see an Ophthalmologist who may have other treatments for the malady.
