Anybody else shoot with their bow "vertical"?

I suppose I've gone through 6-8 hats, trying to find a hunting hat that doesn't get in the way of my string.  I'm pretty much relegated to a flimsy, floppy hat, I suppose......and I guess I'll have to velcro it "up".

I can't help it.  I feel like I'm gonna look like this guy....

I cant my bow, but it still hits my hat bill. I usually just wear a beanie or camo baseball hat backwards

Frisky

I took a camo baseball cap and cut the bill to 1". It stays out of the way. The cut edge will start to fray and looks even better!

Whenever my shooting goes to crap....I go vertical to get me back on track. Then I begin to cant again. That said, no peak for me!

1" won't cut it.  I've tried to cut down my ASAT beanie.  It still hits it.

I don't need "much".  I've got a Predator fleece stocking cap, and it's enough "shade" over my eyes to cut the glare, in the evenings.  I do have the wolfsking beanie from Jeff @ GWW that I'll probably just have the velcro added to.

I used to shoot with a cant.  Now, I just "can't" (pun kinda intended).  It just feels really weird to cant my bow, now.

More vertical on long shots...but canted mostly -not extreme but a sight window and that's it.

I hold it at whatever angle the shot dictates-hat or not.

NDTerminator

I shoot pretty much vertical.  I always seem to have on a stocking cap, weight dictated by temp...

Suppose I could wear a baseball hat turned sidways like a gangsta from out on the res...

I do and just turn my ball cap around or cock it to the side if shooting longer bows. With short bows I can just use a short brimmed cap.

wollelybugger

I shoot like Manitoba, when I get left or right I shoot verticle to get ligned up again.

Ybuck

Love a vertical bow, and a under armor beanie, or backward baseball cap.

Sorry to invade the shooter's forum, guys.  I was interested in how people got around this, while hunting.  Target shooting, I rarely need a hat.

I appreciate all the responses.  If a mod sees this and wants to delete it....be my guest.  I guess there's no way around the string.

vertical, canted, sideways, whatever.  An archers hat with a short stubby bill is the ticket.  When it gets cold a stocking cap can't be beaten.

I cant but have been canting since 1955 so it's inborn.  As far as a hat goes I wear a USGI field cap in woodland camo I bought for $1 at Denton Hill and I flip the brim up when shooting.  I look like an old WW2 flight mechanic. It's water proof and has ear flaps so what's not to like?

Sometimes I'll wear an old Jones style hat but I still have to tilt it back slightly.

A look I'll have to experiment with is a fedora with the right side of the brim pinned up.  Kind of offbeat and wacky.

Or maybe an Irish military balmoral.  Can't have too many hats.

red...

Not a fedora...but a Filson oil cloth packer.  I had to twist it to the side to shoot.

I started shooting with it almost straight up but have a slight cant. Seems to have made a big difference right now but I am working on my form. I would think that once your form is mastered you should be able to cant, lean or most other things and still maintain accuracy.

Post your pic at full draw. I have a thread on   POW WOW "FULL DRAW PICS"

I'm curious to see where you anchor so that you have to bend a small billed hat like that.

twitchstick

On my recurve I hold vertical most of the time. I have like a bucket hat but always looking for other sort billed hats.
