shootin my new to me longbow today for first time and that thing is slapping piss out of my wrist, no matter how I hold it.  is that a brace height issue?

ishiwannabe

Sounds like the BH might be too low? I know when my wrist gets hit, the first thing I do is check the BH.

BRACE HEIGHT!!! when i got my long bow it beat me up pretty good, was excited and just had to shoot it and it bit me.
start twisting the string and check with the manufacturer for what they recomend. good luck

its a neet navajo, i just started shooting longbow, today as a matter of fact, and i thought it was low, measured from back of handle and it was 5" twisted string down to where its now at 6" gonna shoot this evening before dark

mike hall

seems like most on my longbows are happy around 7 to 7 1/2 brace............

Yes I agree your brace height is too low and also do you have tight nocks?

WESTBROOK

Hill style LB's work well down around 6.5, the R/D's like it up around 7-7.5

i took it out to 6.25 and it quit hitting it, got quieter and quit jumping in my hand.  shot 6 arrows and had 3 in same hole and one now has no nock.

Gray Buffalo

It's a SKY with a Neet name on it. BH should be 7" to 7 1/2"
I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.
