Anybody else shoot with both eyes closed? That way anything I hit is an accomplishment!

I close both eyes, turn my head, say a prayer, and shoot. I group pretty good that way. Probably the praying part.

I may be the odd ball here but i have been trying to concentrate on my technique.  I just bought a MArtin x-200 and i want to get deadly good.  So far putting 6 or 7 out of ten in the boiler room of a 3d out to 25 yds fromn an elevated stand.

I may be wrong but i draw, 3 fingers under, anchor my thumb under my jaw, my mid finger in corner of mouth then close left eye and release.  I feel as though it gets my left to right more precise.

Again maybe me as i have only been seriously shooting for 2 years.

That was funny

I tried one eye shut and it does seem to help with alignment a little, but i've always shot both eyes open so i can't really depend on this change in form to become ingrained in my shot.

I spoke to an eye surgeon about this a few years ago.
A lot of what he said went right over my head, but he did say that for my purposes "instinctive and split vision" shooting I needed both eyes open for depth perception.
Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.

I'm new around here, first post in fact For some reason I have always shot with one eye. I think this is what I was taught. Goes for any kind of shooting, guns, bows, slingshots, but not grenades or spears. I have started to try and use both eyes in the last year and it is strange but sometimes goes smoothly. For example the instinctive aspect is just great for me with both eyes. For those long distance or tight shots I still find myself using one eye.I wish I would have learned to use both eyes. I beleive that way is better. Might be the reason I have one eye the size of a golfball and one the size of a marble.

Hello everyone, my name is Ted and I'm a aimer....

I shoot right handed and squint my left eye heavily

In some of the advanced training I have received we found that both eyes are needed for depth perception. This is more critical with unknown distances and moving targets. Try shooting skeet or trap with one eye closed. If you shoot at predetermined distances at non moving targets you can get away with one eye closed a lot easier. Not only that but helps when I have to go chase those flyer's down.
