Thanks Cal, I notice Welch kind of hunkers his head down just a hair every time right when he comes to full draw over the arrow....I am shootin 4-4" fletch. I trimed one feather back half inch and it made world of difference...i'm still playing around with....interesting
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

I tried it out a little tonight and found that the 4 fletch I had lined up just right. I found that my alighnment is a lot better by anchoring at the back of my jaw rather than at the corner of my mouth.  The problem is all my arrows are now to short.

3 under saved my shooting. Didn't see any video or read any books. Having that arrow under my eyeball made all the difference in the world. Windage is NOT a problem any more, and when I don't think about my form or the arrow, neither is elevation.

Just changed out all my nocks where my feather touches my nose and thumb knuckle touches ear lobe.........I found this was critical to make his system work. Did alot of 1 arrow practicing today....i think i got it

I shoot split finger to handle the arrow, and then point the top finger at the target. I draw the bow with the other two remaining fingers under the arrow. My nock point is above the arrow nock so this works. If you use a nock point below the arrow nock then you have to shoot split finger.

Joey...I had a thought Friday when a friend asked me about shooting 3 under...It just popped into my head as I recently made a reverse cant shot on a hog.

Is there a way to reverse cant shooting 3 under?

Terry....Denny Sturgis asked me the same question. My answer was to shoot the 3 shots you did on the across the pond hog.

I've been shooting 3 under since the late 70's or early 80's, I like it !

I shot split for a many years but once went to 3 under my shooting and hunting sucess improved dramaticly..

There are people out there like Terry who just seem to have a gift of superior hand to eye coordination but for the rest of us 3 under isn't a bad way to go..

Rod....So it can be done, cool...how do you keep the arrow on the rest?  Do you do the same thing as with split finger but keep more 'upward' pressure against the nock point?

Pat, not at all knocking 3 under....I just know Joey was a crack shot split finger shooter and he's been playing around, and I wondered how you would reverse cant and keep the arrow on the shelf...always trying to learn something....less ya'll start talking about target panic...and I'm outta here!  I'm like Barry Wensel,...I don't even wanna hear about it!  ;)

Terry...what I do is, I place my fingers on the string at an angle, with a little more tension on the bottom finger, then take a little tension and the string rolls right forcing the shaft into the riser and the increased tension on the bottom finger keeps the arrow down on the shelf. When I was showing Denny, I had an elevated rest on the bow....still worked like a charm.

Rod, sounds similar to split, and just learning the technique and getting it down pat.

Pat, I don't think I am any more gifted than most, I was just very determined and committed. I think anyone can achieve the level they desire if they are devoted and can find the time. I was lucky I had the time at the time. It would be difficult if I had to start tomorrow, as I'm all out of time it seems.    :help:

I could not have said it better than daddybear, split finger just feels more safe and controllable to me, and for fast shooting like aireal targets I don't think 3 under is very well suited. That being said, most of the successfull high scoring barebow shooters, shoot 3 under, so..., more power to 'em, and i'll not cry fowl, it just don't work for me. Its still barebow, no sights, and to me there should be no protest.
its me, against me.
