4 fingers under?

Anyone ever screw around trying 4 under?

I keep experimenting with different anchors, both split and 3 under. The other day in the basement, I figured I'd try 4 under just for the heck of it.

Well, after the 3rd arrow flew like a dart into the bull, I said out loud "my, my, my". I shot better than 3 under!

I did barely hit the exposed bottom end of my pinky with the string, but the arrow flew uneffected.

To remedy that, I slipped a larger, very thin tab on my middle finger, behind my Black Widow 3 under tab. No more pinky contact.

For my thumb, I tuck it into the palm of my hand, pointing down.

For anchors, I use the middle finger in the corner of the mouth, index finger in the corner of my nose and my nose touching the back of the fletching.

I know it must be odd, because I did 4 finger under searches and nothing came up. But it's shooting very well for me.

Has anyone ever tried this before?

Haven't tried it but imagine that you would have to stick to longer bows to avoid finger pinch.  I do have a guy at my club that shoots two under.

I recall talking to Steve Gorr of Cascade Archery a number of years ago about getting control of the shot. He said there was a fellow that shot four-under and was an exceptional shot. You'd have to check with Steve but I thought he said the guy was a State Champion, possibly in Wisconsin. I don't recall the guys name, but I'm sure Steve would know it right away. By the way, Steve himself is enjoyable to watch shooting a bow. When I shot with him a bit back in the 80's, he had without a doubt, the most solid bow arm/follow-through that I have ever seen. Even with heavy hunting weight bows, the bow arm just did not move. Very impressive. Anyway, sure, four fingers can work for you.

I remember back in the early 70's a fellow came to one of our shoots and he shot four under using a homemade tab. From the 20 yard line he was clanking arrows. Hard to recall, I think he was shooting a 60" Bear.

Bear Heart,
So far I've tried it with a 62" Thunderstick MOAB and a 62" Toelke Whip.
