Guys,

My good friend wants to start shooting trad and is going to start to demo bows. The problem is he is a 25-26 inch draw length and i'm 29 so my arrows won't fit him. My question is, he will be shooting something in the 50-60 pound range (recurve) and i need to get him some shafts just to use for the demo. Once he decides his bow choice, we can give more specifics and get final shafts. Should i just let him shoot my 32 inch arrows or buy 3 "test" arrows to get him started. next question, where do i start with shafts? carbons are easier to get by me? any suggestions on a starting point?

Thanks for the help

He's starting to shoot Traditional Archery with a 50 - 60 pound bow? I'd highly recommend dropping down to  at least  40 pounds, his draw length may lengthen a wee bit too.

Old York,

Thank's for the advise, but he is more then capable to pull that weight. He's 5'5" 225# and a Semi-pro body builder. He shoots my widow now @ 58# with no issue.

doeboy- As long as he is using demo bows compatible with the spine of your 32" arrows he should be okay going that route. There is a good chance that the different bows he trys are going to perform a bit differently from one another and if he is testing bows for "feel" as much as performance he can still make a pretty good selection and then fine-tune his final selection to a specific arrow including length. He may want to shoot an over long arrow anyway with a 25" draw if he is going to hunt because of the weight factor.                     Grant

Don't want to step on any toes, but if you have a 29'' draw and your friend has a 25-26 draw, shooting same poundage bow's...your arrow will be stiff for his draw lenght. 3'' longer power stroke require a good deal more arrow spine.

Guys,

Thansk for the help. I think he's more interested in grip at this point. I just wanted to see if i could get him close and let him shoot some arrows. I'll lone him some of my AD's. thanks again.

i have a friend with the same draw 25in he also shoots 60lb bows he's been shooting them for years. he shoots 500 spine carbon shafts (beaman)with 150 grains out front and weight tubes. with perfect arrow flight ,his hunting shafts he adds about 50 more grains up front

How about shooting some flu-flu arrows?  Spine won't really matter and since he'll be shooting short distance trying different bows they should get there.
Shoot strait and have fun!
