My longbow shoots current spined shafts 55# well 3 fingers below, and some shafts not tapered as well.  When I try new string (fast flight) same brace height and nock point, flight is erratic. Shooting split fingers helps a little, but no comparison between two strings? any suggestions wellcome Thanks

Is the nock fit ok?  Did you try bareshafting?

If you went to a different type of string (material wise), or a different strand count, it's very possible it's changed the tune of the bow, even though you are at your previous correct brace height.  Was your previous string dacron/B50 or ff type material?  What is the new one made of, and number of strands?

bgram I'm new to this posting system, but catching on.  The previous string was 2 strand, not sure of material, new string is 3 strand ff with beefed up serving at tips.  Cat whiskers installed with serving wrapped above & below whiskers on string.  Thanks Bill

Mark , not sure about nock fit, but set same height as previous string.  Have not bareshafted. Thanks

The nocks should not fit on the string too tight. The arrow should come off pretty easy. If they are too tight your arrow flight will be goofy.

You might want to bareshaft. Bareshafting is hard to get perfect but it is a big help in getting things close to perfect.
