I was just wondering if this is in my head or is it a real deal. I have been working alot on my form lately by blind bail shooting and it really helps, but ever since I have it seems like I am getting more speed and power out of my shots now that I am getting my elbow back farther and also getting more back tension into my shot. Am I just imagining this or is this what good form gives you? Thanks

The more proficient you become in the elements of shooting, the stronger you become.  It is basic physics, the further you draw the bow, the more energy you place in the limbs to be transfered to the string, and ultimately to the arrow.

Many of us colapse once we reach anchor, you have, correctly I might add, found the importance of back tension which allows you to release from your selected anchor point.  Many of us reach it, creep, and then release.  Sometimes shooting as much as two inches shorter then the original anchor point.  Depending on the energy storage of the bow,  that will me as much as five to six pound loss of draw weight.

No sir, it is not your imagination....Kudos to you Sir.

I've noticed the same thing. everything about the shot feels better when you get it right.

Absolutely! Good form helps in the many aspects of archery.

Thanks guys, now all I have to do is find a shooting glove that I don't wear out in about three months time. Any suggestions?

"Super Glove" with cordovan tips.  Mine is about 4 years old and still has several more years left.  Will take about a month to break in and get comfortable.  It is available at most traditional suppliers.

swampbuck

I've been having very good luck with the big shot from American Leathers.3 river's carries them maybe others too

As said already it's not your imagination.Genrally folks pick up some extra draw once they figure out proper alighnment and even if ya didn't a crisper cleaner release as the result of better form will give you more speed just because your not loosing anything or as much when it leaves your fingers
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

I got some good suggestions here, Thanks guys. I talked to Byron Ferguson and he said that he likes the E.W. Bateman leather glove. So I am going to get one of those, a Big Shot glove, and a Super Glove and just try them all. Thanks again, I know that if I have a problem or question I can get an answer here. Thanks.
