I have watched Terry's videos over and over. Esp the one where he shoots over the pond with different cants. What is the basic principal of how to do this. Does hand placement on the string play a major role? It looks like to have to bend a the waist to make every thing line up properly. Maybe Terry could give us some tips on how to practice this??? I try to practice shooting from all different positions and am having a hard time getting the arrows to fly where I want them to go. The left and right seem to give me the most problem. Also if others have advice to offer chime in.

What I have seen observing those who cant and hit what they shoot at you draw and anchor with your face and bow in the same alignment as when you are shooting vertical. You just tilt your upper body over so the bow, your face and shoulders are canted over.  The only exception is when you are doing something like sitting on the ground where the bottom limb must be held off the ground. If you cant the bow but not your face you end up torquing the string.

Correct Pete....even the last sentence...but there is a way to cant the bow AND your string hand but not your face as far.  I'll try and explain how I shoot that way in a bit when I have more time, and possibly film what I do when holding the bow totaly horizonta.

Probably a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyways...  How are you keeping the arrrow on the shelf with some of those cants?

To reverse cant, you simply 'over hook' the string and pinch the arrow nock.

That means you rotate your wrist out and hook farther around the string, and when you draw everything will rotate back, and you'll have pressure holding the arrow on the shelf.

Terry, those two videos have helped me out a lot. Thanks for posting them again. I have been working on the reverse cant. I think it would be very useful in a hunting situation. I have a couple of questions about your equipment. Who made you bow? What are the spec's and what arrows are you shooting?

Terry could you do a step by step to better shooting? Not very long but to train us shooters and a little on finger placement back tension and all that stuff? I think we could benefit from it.

I had another light come on over the weekend. I was practicing the reverse cant that I saw Terry do on the video clip and it hit me. This may sound stupid to some of you more experienced guys but if the arrow is not lined up directly under your shooting eye the arrow is going to go left or right no matter if the rest of your form is correct. This all relates back to the cant of the bow and the position of the hand and wrist. It sounds silly but practicing the reverse cant taught me more about shooting than anything I have done in a long time. Thanks again Terry for posting those videos.  

Oh one other thing.  I have been slapping arrows together out to 45 yards since about Saturday afternoon. This was the one bit of fine tuning I needed. Again I am very greatful thanks a lot guys.
