I am going to be making my switch from recurves to long bows, have 3 inmind. Martins Vision,Savannah and the new Viper,I like the feel of that type of grip, will be using it on the ground and in a ground blind, no treestand. Will hunt with it in Wisconsin, like 600 grain arrows and 55or 60#'s, any help?     Pete

I used to have a Vision and I now own a Savannah and either one is a great bow. the Savannah with its 62" AMO might be a better ground blind bow. but i am no expert on ground blind hunting, I spot and stalk.

Just to throw a minor curve ball in. I have a 64" Chek-Mate Take Down Crusader on the way 55# going to be my go to bow soon.

I've been shooting a Savannah for a little over a year now.....I'm happy with it...it has a bit of hand shock but I added one of the rubber sleves from 3rivers and it helped with that...I hunt from a ground blind....the home made kind...a few pine or cedar limbs...tried one of the enclosed ones....the upper limb tip would hit the top....even the Double Bull is only 67 inches high.....tough to shoot a 62 inch longbow in a 67 inch space...

Pete...the most important part of shooting a longbow is the grip...I perfer a more straight locator grip , thats just me ...the dish doesnt work for me unless  I have secure hold, with good grip material , the best grip I like is one like Tim Mullins uses on his Acadian Woods bows I have old Acadian Woods I got at a shoot slightly used a hunting season:) , I love the grip and the bow!!! His longbows rock!!!once you find something that works stay with it!!

Have a viper deluxe.  Sweet bow.  55# RH.  Have developed some arthur in my thumb.  Recurve is OK, but sticks really cause an ache. Will part with it if you are interested.

The Viper is a sweet shooting bow for a pretty nice price.

My personal fav is the Martin Vision-----that is of course pertaining to commercially made bows.

I think you could find a good custom bow for around the same price as the Martin.

Pete,
I have two Visions. A #50 and a #60. I bought the #60 after I tried it at a local range. The first four arrows I shot from it resulted in two broken knocks and I'm not that good. I wanted something a little less stressing so I picked up the #50. They both shoot great. The #60 is over 200 FPS with a cedar arrow. It sure is hard to pull those arrows out of a 3D deer though.

The Vision is a sweet shooting/handling bow (I have a 50# for sale in the classifieds if interested).

However, if you know you are going to be in a commercial type of ground blind, you may want to look hard at the Savannah.

ive got a 45# Viper Deluxe and i LOVE it! i just got a Flemish string for it instead of the endless loop one that it came with.

If your draw length is 28 or under, definately the Savannah.  If draw length 29 - 30 the Vision.
I am sure the Bamboo Viper is a dandy, but no proof of time yet.

Shot the New Bamboo Viper and the Savanna side by side a few days ago at the local shop.. Savanna was faster and just plain shot better for me. asked shop owner his thoughts and he agrees with me. He commented that several others who had tried both bows made very similar statements. Besides the Savanna is over $200 cheaper. Can not comment on Vision as I have not shot it.. Hope that helps a little. Gene
