Samick Sage Deluxe brace height from back of shelf or to throat of grip??? Longbow guy trying to help
some newbie female archers. The strings on these bows seem to be awfully heavy for 25-30 lbs. Would a endless loop 12 strand work?
Thanks,

Brace height is ALWAYS measured from the string to the deepest part of the grip.  For "newbie" archers, I wouldn't worry too much about the string, but any type of string that is strong enough for the bow will be fine.

Samick Sage strings are notoriously overbuilt.  Have no idea why they keep doing it.  It really degrades the performance of the bow.  12 strands, whether endless or Flemish, should be more than adequate for 25-30# and you should see a performance increase.

A couple buddies at work bought Sage recurves, and the strings were horrible. Super loose and thick as a rope lol! Stretched like crazy and never seemed to quit.

Invest in a couple decent fast flight type strings and they will shoot a lot better. 12 strand should be plenty. I'd just build to whatever strand count is easiest to reserve personally.

Those are really good shooting bows but the strings definitely hold em back!

Think the strings are dacron but you can use fast flight on them

Thank you gentlemen. I will build a couple endless loops . Length suggestions??

Agree about smaick strings.
When both my son's samicks' first arrived I had noticed the string and arrow flight on both bows not so hot and had ten strings build them a new one right away. They shoot so much better.
As for the question about the brace height it is the deepest part of the throat (handle) not the rest.
String length for recurve's typically 4" shorter.

From your post, you seem to have access already to a Samick Sage with a stock string.  If that string gives you the brace height you want, just use its length as a guide.  If it is too short or too long, add or subtract an inch.  An endless string performs best when it is not twisted very much, if at all, so it is a little more critical to get the length right.
