I want to see how many of you guys have a " Pika " from Mr. Dan Toelke.

Photo's Please !

It doesn't matter if it's at 54" or 56"  I just want to see the colors and style, and the different woods.

Dan is making me one up now ! And tell me a little bit about your setup for shooting.  Maybe what string you have on it, what you use for string silencers.  And maybe the arrow wt. Just some of the things that make it work really great.

Thanks

Here's a couple of pics of mine. Micarta and Bocote riser with mango limb veneers it's 56" 47#@28". I draw 29". I'm shooting one of Dan's strings on it and it likes GT 3555's with 100 grain brass inserts and 175 grain points cut 30 1/2" bop.Total arrow weight is 575 grains .

I have owned two.  Excellent bow.  Between it and Gregg Coffeys Elkhearts and Shrews I think you habe the best pure hunting longbows made.

Here's the 56 I had.  2pc with Bocote limbs and accents.

58" Two Tracks Ogemaw
60" Toelke Chinook

WoW !!!

All of those are really looking nice.  Sharp looking bows. BUT I see the infamous Black circle around mid riser, I was tempted to do that takedown.  BUT I didn't.  The very first photos was the woods I started to go with. But I wanted a little bit of weight in the riser.  So I went with Micarta riser. But Dan said he was going to dress it up.

Thanks for putting photos on here, and the info too.

From what I hear from others they are really nice shooting bows.  I had a shoulder problem and I stepped out of it for five years.

I thought I'd try and get a bow that hits the bull's-eye in spite of myself !!! What really sold me on it was no hand shock. But time will tell when it gets here.

Easy shooters.  This pic was first day I had my 54", got it tuned, 3 consecutive shots 17 yds 10gpp arrow.  I draw 29, the 56 was smoother but the 54 had a little more zip.  Great bows. To me the 2pc adds that nice extra heft to really help stabilize these shorties.  Your bow will be great even as a 1pc.  Enjoy!

That's a pretty nice setup, matching bow and knife !  Did you make the knife yourself Jeffrey ?

That's some very good shooting chuck, I've heard a lot of good things about the bow.  I hope that this one can teach me well !

Mine is 56". 40#@29".  The riser is bubinga and the veneers are bacote.  Very smooth.  Very quiet and i shoot it better than any other bow.  I use carbon express predator ii 800 spine arrows full length w 40 grain outsert and 125 grain fp.  Tillered Apache style.

Very beautiful bows guys!  Here are a few photos of the Pika I recently received from Dan; a Texas Ebony riser, along with Myrtle veneers.  I'm also shooting Dan's string at the moment.  However, I like making my own strings, and will probably try a 10 strand D10 here soon.  I'll let you know how that goes.  Like Fred, I'm shooting GT 500s, but with 200 grain Eclipse up front.  Be sure to let us see that bow once it's in hand.

Best regards, Chase

Chase,

Nice-looking bow.  I find that Dan does really good work.  I think he's a perfectionist ! But doesn't know it  !!! I told him to put beaver tail on mine.  I know what the risers going to be, I just told him to put some nice woods to accent it.   I think he's putting juniper Venere on the limbs. I will probably use Axis  N-Fused Carbon 500s.  But there's a possibility it may be too stiff, for this bow.  Dan shooting for
38#@ 29".  It's going to be my high-power tall leged critter getter.  I like things close, 5 to 12  or 15 yards at the most.  Keeping it as challenging as it could get on the ground. I use Zwickey 2 blade 135 gr.  Dan is setting that up for three under.

And Of course I will put photos on once I get the bow.

I got a used Pika back in August. It's a 56" 54@28 take down, and I draw 28. The string is one that Dan makes. Like said before, the take down system adds some weight that to me helps stabilize the bow. I absolutely love this bow. I have never shot a bow so consistently good. My first shot has much improved over any other bow I have owned. I wasn't able to shoot much this fall during the season, so I didn't take it out much. I'm hoping this spring is different. I'm shooting 29 1/4 inch Heritage 250's with a 200 gr tip. I think the overall weight is around 550. I shoot 3 under, but I'm not sure what the bow is tillered to. I think the woods are black and white ebony, but I could be wrong.

Snake, a B&W ebony Pika! You lucky dog! I think Dan quit working with it because it's a pain.  Don't let that one go!
