I shoot at squirrels ever other day in my yard. How long can I leave my recurve or longbow strung. It takes too long to string it every time I want to shoot and most of the time by the time i have strung it, the squirrels have run up a tree.

I leave mine strung all the time with no ill effects. (if it is a glass bow) I shoot several time per week. Several bowyers have chimed in on this subject and have verified no issues after leaving bows strung for years.

I very rarely unstring my bows. I've left both recurves and longbows strung for many years besides swapping out a string or adding silencers occasionally. No problems.

I have two that have been strung for a few years now,, I only hang mine horizontally by the strings.

I'm of the opinion that anything under tension will sooner or later be affected by that tension.  I unstring my bows when not in use.  But, as others have said, keeping them strung doesn't seem to produce a noticeable effect.

I have a 40 pound recurve that I leave strung for the exact same reasons. I've never had any issues with it.

Unstrung only if I won't be shooting that bow for a while. Mostly keep them strung.

Ask the company that made it for the best answer but my Black Widow has been stung for 20+ years with the exception of some travel time on planes.

The bow I'm currently using stays strung. Could be days or months. Just watch where and how you store it.

If inside a hot vehicle I'll unstring one but I shoot too often to hassle with it otherwise.

I've heard multiple bowyers of glass bows say leaving them strung is no problem for the bow.  I can't help but believe that it could reduce life of the string somewhat.  Maybe negligible. I leave mine strung unless it's going to be several weeks before I shoot again.
