I am counting down the days until Friday night.  Going out to dinner with the family then heading to the woods for a week, starting Saturday morning. Looks like a front is moving in, hoping it brings the rut with it! I will be without service for most of it, but hope to have some stories to add when I return!!!

Saw a doe with a couple fawns last night. Twice.  they knew something was a miss and never came closer than 40 yards.  IT was nice to see deer again.

Its cooling off nicely. Things are cooling off and heating up at the same time.

Headed out, sitting a stand that is well suited for the NNW wind.. Hard frost on the ground and it is misting out now.  

Deer were moving last night on my way home between snow storms. No accumulation, ground too warm.

I am giddy to finally be heading out after daydreaming about it all week.

I saw a 2 1/2 year old 8 point last night at 4:30, nose to the ground moving real slow,checking things out. The temps have dropped and deer movement has picked up.

Jumped a  deer that was on my trail on the way in, then had 2 bucks less than 50 in the Tag Alders Grunting and such,  couldn't get a real good look at them and they both moved off separate ways.

Yes Chuck it snowed but didn't stick here. some of our drivers were grounded farther nw from here.

Well, a nice adult doe got too close to me (about seven yards) tonight, while hiding out in my ghillie suit.  Good thing it got chilly, she is hanging out back, to be boned out in the morning.

Thanks.  I used an osage self bow i built this fall.  Kinda neat.  My first with a self bow.   She walked in to about seven yards.  

She was making vocalizations, almost like grunts as she approached.  Never heard these from a doe before.  At first i thought it was a young buck.
