I have a Whip on order with Standard grip would someone mind taking 3 measurements for me.

At the throat but above the thumbrest.
At the peak of the palm swell (just below throat but at thickest point).
And around the peak or crown of the heel (before it begins its slope down).

I have a grip on another bow I really like and want to see the difference, thanks you kindly

Just FYI Dan will shape it to a measurement of your hand if you send it to him, or if you know you like a larger throat/slightly fuller grip he can duplicate the Chinook grip on it which is similar but a little fuller and throat more rounded  He can pretty well do anything you want.  He's top of the heap.

John,

In the order you have them in.

4-7/8"

5-1/2"

5-1/4"

I have a second that is larger in all measurements.

5"

5-3/4"

5-3/8"

That one was made from a hand tracing and I think I muffed the tracing making my hand appear bigger.

I like the smaller one better.

FWIW, I just took off the leather wrap and shaped mine to fit, then re-finished that portion and re-applied the leather.  I know, but I do it to all the customs I buy (and make over 50% of my collection myself).

Cheers

Yeah I hear you Mike, I'm not afraid to do minor mods but on the initial order I want to get it close if not perfect.

I have this grip on my Centaur that I like a lot and want the Whip to be close to it.

Hey John, I have larger palms with smaller fingers for a guy that is 6'. I don't really want to know if that means anything though   ;)

neargeezer

Oh ya, I tend to like smaller grips as I seem to relax and let the grip fall in place. With a larger grip I tend to want to grip tighter and torque it in the process.

Say what!!   :saywhat:

Terry why does this conversation bring me back to the presidential debates   :saywhat:

On the Centaur grip I got measurements of :

5 -1/8"
6"
6-1/4"

Quite a bit bigger dimensions from the Whip standard.

I did have Jim give me more meat in the palm swell and the rest was based on my hand tracing and wanting a medium grip.

I've forgotten what they where talking about in the debates   :D   conveniently!

I bet Dan would make the grip larger no problem. Mine was actually a little larger than it is now. I sent it back to Dan and he graciously made it a little smaller and changed the shape for me. I suspect that middle measurement was close to 6" before he reshaped it for me.

South MS Bowhunter

Do you have any pic's of it before sending back to Dan for rework?

I like to see it.

Hey John,

I just emailed you some pictures. The pictures are from before Dan reworked the grip.

Both bows are in the pictures.

I think it will be easy for you to pick out the larger gripped bow.

Thanks I'll go and look in a minute just got home from Frogging!
