Do I go outside and shoot or do I shoot my bow?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the question.

I shoot.  No need to clarify what I'm shooting as all I shoot is my bow.

I shot my bow once.  I was trying out a thumb ring one day & the string slipped out mid-draw.  My hand wasn't wrapped around the front of the bow so both the bow and the arrow landed on the grass about 10' in front of me.

Sam, I had a similar experience in shooting my bow. I had a nock crack and dry fired my bow with a very loose grip on the almost new bow. It went sailing down the concrete driveway.  I wanted to cry.  But to answer your question I try to "shoot" my bow every time I go outside. However I do often find myself losing concentration and flinging arrows after 20 or so. I always try to get close and finish my session with a few high concentration form shots.

I see shooting with a traditional bow more of an extension of myself- IE going outside to shoot.

Other things seem to be like a middle man between the target and the target shooting- IE going out side to shoot with my rifle/compound/whatever.

The original post was mostly a nod to the dedication and connectedness a traditional archer can have to their gear, as opposed to other fun ways to shoot a projectile.  It's enjoyable to read how others feel about it.

I used to shoot the bow with "training wheels" every once in a while, but when the trad bug bit me, I can't wait to get the opportunity to shoot.  I feel like a kid when I see rain and realize I might not get to go outside and "play".  Haha

I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.

Actually I DO SHOOT MY OWN homemade bow. Made from scratch. Some days I just shoot and let the juices flow other days I shoot for form. BUT EVERY DAY I SHOOT MY BOW!
Most people get rich by making more money than they have needs, me, I just reduced my needs!
