STOS, cause they are easy to sharpen, close to 3-1 ratio, fly well and kill well.

Cary didn,t I show ya my sharpener when I was up there? It,ll sharpen any 2 blade head very very well by anybody.It,s really that easy to use.

I,ve used the magnusII before and it seemed like a good head.I'd also consider the simmons line

As for screw-ins Phantoms are nice and they come in SS now wieghin in at 225 I think.All of the above mentioned heads with steel adaptors would be sweet on a carbon arrow.My ICS 400's with 250grs up front wiegh in @ 570grs

While I know it's not a 2 blade thunderheads have taken a whole lot of critters over the yrs and come scary sharp outta the package.There's others too but no need to get to far off base LOL

PS I use the Gatco knife sharpening system and it can be gotten from Cabela's

If you can find em, pearson deadheads.  Ace and ribteks follow for availability and reason described above.

I've been very happy with Ace Standards for the past few years. They come in weights from 125 to 160 grains.

very hard to beat a zwickey delta. as barking mad said the temper is perfect where it is easy to sharpen but holds a edge very well. in 35 years I have never had a failure. I have strayed a few times but am back for good with zwickey  (but I shoot the bleeder version)

I will be bringing some 145 stos to the trading blanket next month !!!!!!!

I like the Ace Express 165.  Good design, well made, very tough, straight, single thickness blade is very easy to sharpen and holds its edge very well.  Good width and length, too.  They are also very good at doing what broadheads are supposed to do.  The Ace Standards, Zwickeys and Ribtecs are very good as well.

Zwickeys, Magnus and STOS.  Those and most of the heads already mentioned are all good.  IMO, they all require some time to get razor sharp and to keep them that way.

MODOC........Cause their factory sharp and flight and penetration is on the money...  

200 grain Ace and an acusharp will touch them up and it will sharpen them, few strokes and mine are shaving sharp. I do it all the time. Big head=big hole. I also like the old Hunters Heads and the 200 gr Simmions safaris.

I like the Hill broadhead. They are difficult to sharpen, at least to my standards. I have several Deadheads from years past that I like also, which are very easy to sharpen. There are other broadheads out there that I'm sure would work well for me, I just don't shoot enough big game to be able to try them all.  Alaska jim

Try some 160gr STOS. I use the 125gr steel insert to screw them onto my carbons. They are cheap $22.00 to $25.00 for six and they sharpen razor sharp with a $5.00 file. They are made by Magnus for STOS. In my opinion they are second only to the Silver Flames but at $25.00 each for the Flames they are a special purpose head.

If you want to use a screw-in broadhead that compares favorably with Grizzly El Grandes, look at Outback Supremes    Outback\\'s Master Page . Mr. Woodward recently discontinued his 160-grain version. His 145-grain Supreme has exactly the same dimensions -- all Supremes are alike -- except where the 160s have .071-inch blades (1.8 mm), 145s have .063 (1.6 mm).

Mr. Woodward offers these BHs in several configurations. I arranged for a production run of his 160s that incorporate every verified penetration enhancement Ed Ashby has identified to date.

Supremes price per unit, including postage, (in lots of 12, I believe) are about the same price as El Grandes, perhaps a little less??

the old bear greenheads.  I suck at sharpening broadheads and often have to make a few arrows for my buddy so that he will sharpen them for me.. but since i got some of the greenheads i dont have to make him arrows anymore.  I can get them like razors.. I about crapped myself the first i touched it to my arm and it actually cut hair and didnt just scratch the dry skin off my arm.  I will always shoot those from here on out.

Well my favorite is the Simmons because it is bigger and better than anything else. :)It would not be a good head for someone that was not good at sharpening however.Go with the Stos.They are small but a 3 year old can put an edge on one.

Do you get better arrow flight with a narrower head like the Stos or Grizzly?
