can i make a red oak self bow fast flight capable?if so what or how do you do that.

Dano

All my selfbows get fastflight, just use a hardwood, horn or antler tip overlay. Heck I don't think an overlay is even needed, but it's good insurance.

Like Dano I use FF, actually 450+ and D97, on all my selfbows and not problems here. All have hardwood or antler overlays except one. I backed it with rawhide so I guess it has rawhide tip overlays.

i got maple, brazillian cherry, and i think bloodwood, which would be better?do i put it on belly or backside or both?

Ted Fry

You can use Fast flight or any of the new material strings on selfbows with no problem,
We use it on all the selfbows we build . Recurves have a problem due to the angle the string enters the string groove when the limbs return . Not an issue on a longbow.
