Cascade Brush Hawk

I got a Cascade Brush Hawk a few weeks back, after I luckily caught the owner in a moment of weakness.

I have been looking for one for quite a few years now, maily for the reason that I really respect and enjoy Steve Gorrs videos and contribution to Traditional Archery.

I only draw 26", and the short hybrids have really taken ahold in the trad community so I figured one day id get away from my ASL's and mild d/r bows to give one of these short bows an honest try.

I have shot some of the other top known short bows but never owned one, and honestly they all shot really good for me. WELL with all that said, the Cascade was the one I really wanted but couldnt order because he is no longer having them built. But I need no worries now as I got my hands on a beaut!!!!

Shooting characterists.... This bow can flat out shoot!!!! for my style of shooting this bow just seems to float onto the target and lock in. Distance does not seem to matter, stationary or movers this Brush Hawk just locks on like a JDAM. Very smooth draw, quiet and extremely forgiving.

BUILD..... Just a gorgeous bow with a flawless build, no complaints.

Its actually a surprizingly accurate bow, absolutly effortless to shoot.

Now with that said, I dont see anything pushing my JD Berry's out of my top shooter slot, but I also dont see this one leaving anytime soon, just a really fun fun bow to shoot.

OH, and if you havent already, make sure to buy all the DVDs Steve sells at Cascade, they are absolutely wonderful

I have never seen a Brush Hawk with veneers on the limbs...it looks like there could be a couple of carbon layers in there...normally Marc built them with carbon on the surface...yew is his favourite limb wood to work with so I would be pretty sure those limb veneers are Vancouver Island yew...if you take a look at peteward.com you should be able to find a picture of our buddy Dennis hunting with a Canadian version of the Brush Hawk which never really officially existed, that bow in Canada is/was a Chek-Mate Beaver Creek...as I recall that bow of Dennis's is triple carbon

Good looking stick! I have a 29.5" DL, and short bow don't like me too much!

I've owned a couple of these shorties and enjoy how they shoot. I have a double carbon 56" with yew core and find no problem pulling to 29".

I believe that 56" length was standard for the Brush Hawk but know a guy with the rare 54" version marked "Brush Hawk".

The shorter version was common on the "Beaver Creek" and I would like to find one of those.

...an yes, Steve's videos are some of the best out there.

That looks like my old bow. It was a sweet shooter, but i must have wanted something else more at the time.

Graceful lines, deflexed riser, good locator grip... I bet it does shoot nice! My style of bow also, usually 58" or so for my 28" draw.

I am glad you are enjoying that great little bow. It's a shooter for sure but I have better results with my 56" Stewarts.
