I have a couple questions regarding my setup for elk this year.
Morrison Arapaho 59# @ 29" (I draw 30")  I have two shaft combinations that fly well as set up.

One is an Easton Axis w/ HIT  total arrow w/ broadhead - weight 725 grains. (166 fps)

Second Is Grizzlystiks total arrow w/ broadhead - weight 754 grains.  (165 fps)

First, do you think arrow diameter plays a role in penetration?  The Axis is much thinner than the Grizzlystik, but I do get a little more weight.
Second do you think a Magnus 2-blade or a Wensel Woodsman is superior, they both fly well.

Thanks
Derek

Honestly, They're both great set ups for elk......I say whatever you prefer and have the most confidence in....no matter what anyone here thinks...it's up to you...good luck

Guru's right.  Pick one you'll be just fine.

Go with the Axis....
And Woodsman....

Guru is on the money they will both do it.  The important thing is  what you are most confident in.

DMM,

Both arrows will work well.  I'd opt for the Magnus on either shaft.  I've never had a penetration issue with a 2-blade, but have with several 3-blades.  Those were shot with heavy arrows and bows of 65-69 lbs.

You might run your numbers again...a 29 gr. increase in arrow weight should yield much more loss in speed than 1 fps.  It won't make a bit of difference to the elk, though!

Axis and Woodsman is what I'd choose from the 2  ;)

snag

I agree with the 2 blade choice. But really either setup will bring him down. It's all about arrow placement. Pick a spot and lay down the hammer!
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Agree with the 2 blade choice.  WW blades can crush in on heavy bone.  The Woodsman makes a fine deer head though.
Politically correct is a euphemism for spineless.

QuoteWW blades can crush in on heavy bone
Tell that to the two stuck in the bricks of my house. One hit mortar and sunk all the way to the back of the head, the other one hit solid brick and went 1/4 of the way in. I still shoot both of them.
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.
