Just got home from vacationing in Wi. and wanted to thank Kevin and Sue for opening their home to my wife and I for a visit.
Not only are their bows top, IMHO, but they are such fine people as well.Sue feed us which was delicious and Kevin gave us a tour of the shop, while trying to get customer bows staged. Austin, their son, was splicing feathers for his sister's, Emily, new bow. Emily was a gracious hostess as well as an awesome ahot.
After eating the huge meal we staggered out to the range to fling a few.Well, I flung a few while everyone else shot very well.I plead using a new bow (Arroyo) and carbon arrows. Still managed to hit a few of the targets.About the only target I did well with was a lifesize moose, which by the way is Kevin's favorite quarry.
Just wanted to say a public THANKS and good luck to Sue-gracious as always,Emily-show those boys the big buck this fall,Austin who showed me splicing, and of course Kevin-what would I do without your fine bows.

Tom I knew when I called friday and found out you were there that you would be eating like a KING. and shooting all the bows and that huge moose target. I still gotta wait 2 weeks LOL. Wish we could have been up there to meet ya but such is life.<><

I can only say that I spoke to Kevin for the first time last Sunday... I am going to order a set of Bear TD limbs from him... he makes the limbs to the same shape as his standard recurve limbs...
He took the time to answer every dumb question I had and actually talked me out of extra cost limb cores.  He told me the standard red elm cores would do everything I wanted to do and more and did not need to spend extra for something I would most likely not notice.
This is the kind of person you want to do business with.

I do have one question for those of you shooting RER bows...
Do you find that because of the design of the limbs that your bows require a slightly stiffer arrow and shoot faster than a more traditional limb design... I will be order limbs about 45# due to my back problem and from what I have been told these will probably perform more like a 50# traditional style limb design...

I shoot a 49# TD curve and shoot 5575 GT trads with 125gr tips they fly great. Everyone draws different so best thing would be to shoot different spine arrows till ya find the ones that shoot best for you JMHO. <><

I tend to shoot heavier spined arrows out of my RER's because they tend towards more forgiveness of slight glitches on my part.
Kevin's design are both smooth and fast for the #'s.

I own a Vortex and a 3pc static tip curve---besides a few old Bears and kids bows, my rack is empty----that is saying a lot for me.....

I took my new to me Vortex to ETAR this weekend and after shooting lots of other very nice bows, I came home with my Vortex.

I shoot her best!!!

I just got my new to me RER takedown the other day. After a couple of shooting sessions, I decided to sell my other stuff. I liked the way this bow shot, was completely impressed with it's speed, and was so satisfied with it's looks and craftmanship that I decided that THIS is the bow for me. And I decided this after having most (not all) of the top end bows. There might be other bows that are a bit better in one catagory or another, but as far as a total package, I have found the true "keeper" for me.

I received my new Vortex today. It is the slickest piece of work I've seen in a long time. I've got to get some pictures and figure out how to post them. It is very similar to one on here a while back. Osage riser with zircote flair and bocote veneer over bamboo limbs. 56"AMO and 50#@28". The best thing about the bow - being able to do business with Kevin and Sue again. Not enough good things can come their way.

Danny you got the genetic twin to my bow. I belive that the riser striping is a bit different isn't it? Kevin told me he had a second riser glued up like mine. Pics man ! If you email them to me I'll get them posted for ya!

I have a friend who buys bows like crazy trying to find "the one". After shooting my T/D, he went to Clarksville, TN where Kevin and Sue had a booth. He shoot a few there and came home w/ a T/D. It's the only bow he shoots now. A friend of his shot his bow and now wants one. Plain and simple, they are awesome bows all the way around. Kevin and his family are great people. I have shot many different bows at bow shoots and none have been as impressive as my Rivers Edge.

I have a used Vortex coming my way. It is 51#@28". Do you think I should make up some POC arrows at 65-70#, 60-65#? How about GT 5575s? After reading about how much they are thought of it is making that much harder to wait for it!

Thanks Frank. Those antler limb bolts really set off a TD recurve!  I've got some 5575 Traditionals I will try through it. Has anyone made up some wood arrows for their Vortex? Curious if they can handle heavier spined shafts.

Snag, my Vortex is 53#@28, and I shoot some 50-55 woodies very well. Also I have some Wallyworld carbons that were marked 35-55 that fly like darts out of her. I only draw about 26.5 inches so that makes a little difference. This is the only bow I shoot well consistantly. I enjoy it alot!!

So, you are shooting about 48# with 50-55# spine arrows. Then maybe 55-60# for my 51#@28" drawing 28". But how much weight up front do you use? I like to shoot 160gr. heads.
