I was making up some arrows today and starting thinking about different archery ideas and inventions I've seen over the 20+ years I've been doing this. The two that came readily to mind because I was using both at the time were:

1) Arrow wraps because they are easy to use, they look cool and arrows are easy to refletch.

2) Footed carbon arrows. This is the idea where you glue about an 1" or 2" of an aluminum arrow over the tip of a carbon to make it indestructible.

So I thought it would be fun to start a thread about the best ideas and inventions in archery.

The only rules for this thread is there are no rules or bad ideas. I just thought it would be fun to hear about other ideas and why they're great!

Off the top of my head would be fletch tape.

Yes, I'm prejudiced. But I try not to mention this unless the topic is appropriate. I honestly think this is the best idea since glue-on nocks.

Fish2, see the sponsor's classifieds. I just spent about a half hour looking at arrow wraps from Onestringer.

Jim in Maine,
I'm a little prejudiced too.  How about the Bow Bolt.
Now we have two inventions straight from the great state of Maine.

Here is one of mine that worked out like a dream...
Use the smallest aluminum arrow insert you can find and insert into the end of your wood arrow to have an accurate and strong change point wood arrow.
I do it using my wood lathe,  but you can make a jig and do the same thing on a drill press...
Here is a picture. That is one of the early ones... After that one, I recessed the top of the insert to get a smoother transition...

There are just so many really good broadheads out there compared to the old days of the 50's and 60's that are suitable for trad bowhunters.
Another great idea was the acceptance of high FOC arrows and the inserts and adapters that have come along that make arrow tuning very precise as well as adding additional penetration potential to a hunting arrow.
The best things in life....aren't things!
